Shanalorm
30-08-2011, 03:18 PM
Depends on who makes them
John Ashleigh
30-08-2011, 03:18 PM
The Turkish.
Shanalorm
30-08-2011, 03:19 PM
Then still it depends on who makes it.
One kebab can be disgusting, the other can be great.
Shanalorm
30-08-2011, 03:20 PM
In general they are good though.
John Ashleigh
30-08-2011, 03:21 PM
What about Chinese food?
Shanalorm
30-08-2011, 03:22 PM
Again, that depends, but quite good in general.
What about lemondeserts?
John Ashleigh
30-08-2011, 03:23 PM
Not much of a pudding man, to be honest.
You?
Henry P
30-08-2011, 03:23 PM
I like lemon desserts
Shanalorm
30-08-2011, 03:24 PM
I like deserts. Most of them.
Henry P
30-08-2011, 03:30 PM
What's your favourite?
Shanalorm
30-08-2011, 03:32 PM
Ooh, that is a difficult question...
I like sweetness
but sour also...
Does that answer your question enough?
I honestly have no favorite, yust name something and 90% chance I like it or never had it before.
John Ashleigh
30-08-2011, 03:33 PM
If I were to have a pudding it would be a warm chocolate brownie with cold ice cream.
Or vienetta.
Shanalorm
30-08-2011, 03:35 PM
How about a simple lemonsorbet
John Ashleigh
30-08-2011, 03:37 PM
Perhaps.
Henry P
30-08-2011, 03:39 PM
I like a lemon tart, and lemon curd on toast
John Ashleigh
30-08-2011, 03:44 PM
I don't mind a squeeze of lemon on fish.
Henry P
30-08-2011, 03:47 PM
yes- very good on flatfish, like plaice and sole.
John Ashleigh
30-08-2011, 03:48 PM
...and on prawns.
Henry P
30-08-2011, 03:52 PM
this is the gourmet thread!
John Ashleigh
30-08-2011, 03:53 PM
Haha.
Black clothes?
Shanalorm
30-08-2011, 03:53 PM
What do you think of the programm Ready,Steady Cook!?
I find it fun to watch before dinner. Sadly seeing your own plate
then can be rather dissapointing...
John Ashleigh
30-08-2011, 03:54 PM
Dislike. But I am a fan of most cooking shows.
Henry P
30-08-2011, 04:06 PM
I like Jamie Oliver, Nigel slater and Hugh Fearnley- whathisname. But I'm tired of the competitive cooking programmes. The worst is The Great British Menu with its effete judging panel and macho posturing chefs
John Ashleigh
30-08-2011, 04:41 PM
I like Rick Stein.
Maryd.
30-08-2011, 10:31 PM
I'm not really into cooking shows. Most of them use ingredients that one wouldn't ordinarily stock. Nothing worse than going out, buying ingredients to a certain dish... Cooking it up and then the rest stay in the firdge until "toss out" day.
NOpe, I prefer to created my own meals. :)
John Ashleigh
30-08-2011, 10:47 PM
What do you like to cook, Maryd?
Maryd.
30-08-2011, 11:40 PM
Oh well.. I cook Italian food (Surprise, surprise) But mostly I just make things up as I go. If they are nice, we eat. If not we eat anyway. Haha.
You?
John Ashleigh
30-08-2011, 11:41 PM
Oh I have no limitations. I will cook anything that looks nice. I do love to cook fish, or a nice steak.
Taking a walk?
Maryd.
30-08-2011, 11:45 PM
Love fish. Do cook steak. But meat and I don't get along lately.
I love to walk. Especially with the dog. :)
You?
John Ashleigh
30-08-2011, 11:46 PM
Sometimes I just like to get lost.
Riding a bike?
Maryd.
30-08-2011, 11:51 PM
Haha... I always get lost. haha.
Um... Can't ride a bike never had the opportunity to learn I am afraid.
YOu?
John Ashleigh
30-08-2011, 11:52 PM
I don't have a bike anymore, though I am thinking of buying one.
Swimming?
Maryd.
30-08-2011, 11:56 PM
I only learnt how to swim this year for the first time in um, let's say roughly 40 years (Ouch!)
John Ashleigh
30-08-2011, 11:57 PM
Never too late to learn something new, Maryd.
Maryd.
31-08-2011, 12:05 AM
Haha... I learnt it. Got yelled out for forgetting to pop my head up and breath on the odd occasion. Hahah
John Ashleigh
31-08-2011, 12:06 AM
Are you a strong swimmer, Maryd?
Maryd.
31-08-2011, 12:13 AM
No, still a baby at it. I thought I was pysically strong until I learnt to swim. My arms just don't cut it... The legs are strong, but the arms, not so much. :(
You?
John Ashleigh
31-08-2011, 12:14 AM
I am a strong swimmer, I am just not that confident.
Maryd.
31-08-2011, 12:16 AM
Oh, don't talk to me about confidence. I am Queen of confidence... Oh sorry by that I mean "Lack of"
John Ashleigh
31-08-2011, 12:17 AM
I think you're confident from what I can gather. :)
Maryd.
31-08-2011, 12:23 AM
Well, now aren't you sweet enough to think that. No. Not confident, just hard-headed. Haha.
John Ashleigh
31-08-2011, 12:24 AM
Haha.
I wish I had a hard head.
Maryd.
31-08-2011, 12:29 AM
No darl... Trust me, it gets me into soooo much trouble. Haha
Henry P
31-08-2011, 07:55 AM
a hard head?
Maryd.
31-08-2011, 08:39 AM
Henry... I hope you're not being naughty!!!
Henry P
31-08-2011, 09:06 AM
No, but I think you are
Maryd.
31-08-2011, 11:03 AM
Me. Henry. You need a good smack and I'm too far. John, you're closer, smack him for me. Hee hee
Henry P
31-08-2011, 01:58 PM
I enjoy this chat
Maryd.
31-08-2011, 02:02 PM
I bet? Has John smacked you yet?
Henry P
31-08-2011, 02:09 PM
I run too fast
Maryd.
31-08-2011, 02:17 PM
ha ha. Typical. Ha ha
John Ashleigh
31-08-2011, 02:30 PM
I couldn't smack anyone - I am too kind natured. ;)
Maryd.
31-08-2011, 02:35 PM
I know John... But Henry is being naughty. :(
Henry P
31-08-2011, 02:36 PM
Would you smack your children?
Maryd.
31-08-2011, 02:38 PM
Not my babies... They are sweeties. :) But you are too naughty today. Hahaha.
John Ashleigh
31-08-2011, 02:39 PM
Would you smack your children?
If I ever have children, I would discipline them in some other way. Although my dad used to punish me, and I turned out Ok. I mean I am polite and so on.
Maryd.
31-08-2011, 02:42 PM
Don't get me wrong I have smacked the kids when they were very little and only when it was absoulety necessary. But not often. They weren't that naughty.
John Ashleigh
31-08-2011, 03:37 PM
Diet Coke?
Maryd.
31-08-2011, 03:46 PM
Dislike. I like the real thing. It's just my hips that don't? Hahaha
You?
John Ashleigh
31-08-2011, 03:48 PM
I used to love the normal Coke - but the girls have got me into the diet version. Though now I do have the taste for a diet coke.

I don't mind it so much. As long as the hotels are decent... Golly we ended up in some shocking hotels on our trip. Ewww...
John Ashleigh
01-09-2011, 12:09 AM
Luckily some of the hotels we stayed at where rather quaint.
Maryd.
01-09-2011, 12:13 AM
Do go into detail.
John Ashleigh
01-09-2011, 12:15 AM
We have a chain of hotels named 'Premier Inn' - and the ones I have stayed at were quite homely.
Maryd.
01-09-2011, 12:17 AM
Ah, hello, that's the one we stayed in, at Earls Court... And let me tell you I was not impressed at all!!
John Ashleigh
01-09-2011, 12:19 AM
You must have gone to the only 'premier inn' in the world that was disappointing. Haha.
Maryd.
01-09-2011, 12:23 AM
Yes... Firstly it was supposed to be a room for four people. One double bed, a fold out couch and a mattress on the floor. I had to jump over my bed to get out of bed, or I would stand on my daughters head. Not happy! Then there were other issues, I don't want to get into. Although the room was clean at least.
John Ashleigh
01-09-2011, 12:24 AM
Well next time choose a different hotel. ;)
Maryd.
01-09-2011, 12:28 AM
Next time... I would love there to be a next time. I would love to come back to England. :)
Henry P
01-09-2011, 12:07 PM

John Ashleigh
01-09-2011, 01:11 PM
I have never been to Yorkshire either.
Maryd.
01-09-2011, 01:12 PM
Hey John, Henry can shout the both of us... Hahaha
Henry P
01-09-2011, 01:35 PM
I don't want to shout at you
Maryd.
01-09-2011, 01:36 PM
Oh, you don't know slang love... Shout... Pay for!
John Ashleigh
01-09-2011, 01:37 PM
Haha.
Maryd.
01-09-2011, 01:40 PM
Help me out here John!
Henry P
01-09-2011, 01:47 PM
Ah, as in "my shout"?
Maryd.
01-09-2011, 01:50 PM
Henry... I'd clobber you with my computer, but I don't want to break it. Hahaha. Mwah love.
Henry P

I am quite in awe with ancient architect.
Theme parks?
Maryd.
01-09-2011, 09:55 PM
I like them for the kids. I guess I wouldn't go if the kids didn't want to.
Zoo's?
John Ashleigh
01-09-2011, 09:57 PM
I love them.
You?
Maryd.
01-09-2011, 10:02 PM
Yes... Especially the open range ones, where the animals walk around you whilst you are in a bus/car. :)
John Ashleigh
01-09-2011, 10:04 PM
Our zoo's are not like that over here.
Maryd.
01-09-2011, 10:08 PM
Well, our main zoo isn't like that. If one wants an open range, one has to drive out of the city. The main zoo is very much a santuary now. But I really love the butterfly section. You can walk in and they are everywhere... They aren't shy either, that land on you. So beautiful.
John Ashleigh
01-09-2011, 10:10 PM
Sounds magical.
Maryd.
01-09-2011, 10:17 PM
I know... Actually I only mentioned it last night to the kids and they are keen to go to the Melbourne zoo again. That place also has night entertainment, jazz bands or rock and roll night. Sometimes they get the audience up to dance, two years ago my girl and I were up dancing. It was magical.
John Ashleigh
01-09-2011, 10:20 PM
I'd love to be able to attend such beauty. I think I might try and book and go to the 'Marwell Zoo'.
Maryd.
01-09-2011, 10:23 PM
Do it... Just go and enjoy yourself. I find the Melbourne Zoo has catered for the animals more these days that sometimes it's hard to even see them, as they hide between the large trees and shrubs.
John Ashleigh
01-09-2011, 10:24 PM
Spring?
Maryd.
01-09-2011, 10:37 PM
Love spring, 'tis my favourite season, so bright and colourful and not too hot.
You?
John Ashleigh
01-09-2011, 10:38 PM
I have to agree with you.
Maryd.
01-09-2011, 10:40 PM
Summer?
John Ashleigh
01-09-2011, 10:40 PM
I look forward to it when winter is a bore.
You?
Maryd.
01-09-2011, 10:45 PM
Not really too keen on it here. It's either too hot or to dry, or both at the same time, which is very dangerous. We can get some nasty days. Winds and over 40degree heat. Can't go out and enjoy the weather on those days. But when the nice days come it's good for pools and beaches.
John Ashleigh
01-09-2011, 10:47 PM
I suppose those living in a hot country will have a different perspective on a summers day.
Maryd.
01-09-2011, 10:55 PM
Yes... People say how lucky we are, but not so much at times. Asthma sufferers can die in our heat and I won't even go into the deaths we have had through bushfires.
John Ashleigh
01-09-2011, 11:00 PM
Are bushfires common then?
Maryd.
01-09-2011, 11:04 PM
Oh yes sir. We had a big one in 2009. One that was nicknamed Black Saturday... It was hurrendous. So many lives and homes lost. And worst of all the fires were deliberately lit. :(
John Ashleigh
01-09-2011, 11:10 PM
Such a shame. Though I know that some plants need bushfire heat to disperse seeds.
Maryd.
01-09-2011, 11:14 PM
NOt if its going to kill!
John Ashleigh

01-09-2011, 11:24 PM

Family guy?
Maryd.
01-09-2011, 11:32 PM
Ar, that's too crude for my young family. Though they know more than I thought they did. :(
John Ashleigh
01-09-2011, 11:34 PM
Haha...but do you enjoy it?
Maryd.
01-09-2011, 11:38 PM
No. Truth is, I don't let them watch it. I guess now, is ok. I hear their conversations when the are in their rooms chatting to each other. Phew!
John Ashleigh
01-09-2011, 11:41 PM
All teenagers are the same, Maryd. ;)
Maryd.
01-09-2011, 11:49 PM
Yes well, I give them credit. They are fairly decent. I suppose. :)
John Ashleigh
01-09-2011, 11:50 PM
I am sure they are. :)
Maryd.
01-09-2011, 11:57 PM
But as most teens; they have their moments. Ha ha.
Teenagers?
John Ashleigh
01-09-2011, 11:59 PM
Dislike if they act like thugs.
You?
Maryd.
02-09-2011, 12:03 AM
Same. I never really was a teenager. I think I went form 9yrs old, to 25. I skipped those years completely.

02-09-2011, 12:11 AM
Ah, but you are not young minded. That's the difference. :)
No, not a grand lover of smoking. Though I don't mind to be around smokers.

John Ashleigh
02-09-2011, 12:13 AM
Ah, but you are not young minded. That's the difference. :)
Thankyou. :)
Radio?
Yeah I don't mind it. Though I prefer to put a CD on.
You?
Maryd.
02-09-2011, 12:16 AM
Absolutely... Though I prefer to plug in my MP3 player and let it play out all of my 80's songs. Hee hee. Hey, I'm old. ha ha.
Ipods?

My Ipod is my best friend at the moment. I listen to it all the time.
Henry P

John Ashleigh
02-09-2011, 01:45 PM
I love researching new music. I am quite open with different songs.
Henry P
02-09-2011, 01:58 PM
So am I. I'm going through a book which lists 10,000 songs to hear before you die

Henry P
03-09-2011, 01:16 PM
let's call it a journey of discovery
Maryd.
03-09-2011, 01:24 PM
Why not. I like a mixture of songs as well. I am not really stuck on any one genre. :)
John Ashleigh
03-09-2011, 01:49 PM
Car journeys?
Maryd.
03-09-2011, 01:52 PM
Don't mind if the scenery is lovely.
Long/Contry train rides?
John Ashleigh
03-09-2011, 01:53 PM
Yeah, I don't mind the scenery also.
You?
Maryd.
03-09-2011, 02:33 PM
I prefer the train. One doesn't need to think about driving or stress.
John Ashleigh
03-09-2011, 02:37 PM
Indeed. :)
Maryd.
03-09-2011, 02:45 PM
To be honest, I hate driving. If I ever become rich and famous I will hire a chauffeur
John Ashleigh
03-09-2011, 02:48 PM
I am buying my carer a Rally car driving session for Christmas. She loves to drive.
Maryd.
03-09-2011, 02:51 PM
You have a carer? I didn't know that. But that is an interesting gift. Sounds like a lot of fun.
John Ashleigh
03-09-2011, 02:53 PM
I hope she'll enjoy it.
Maryd.
03-09-2011, 02:56 PM

You?
Maryd.
04-09-2011, 01:22 AM
I listen to anything that can make me do backflips in the kitchen, whilst cooking dinner.... Alright so I can't do blackflips, but shuffling from the stove top to the sink in a few seconds is an absolute must. Hahaha.
