I think that today it`s becoming more and more hard. because i hear all the time that people reads less books and therefore buying less and less books in any subject.
but what is growing is poetry or book over the internet so i guess the best thing is to have blogs, websites or right for an online magazines and in this way you can develop yourself more.

I'm very impressed by anyone who manages to get their poetry in print because I think the general view of publishers, based on profitability, is that a lot more people write poetry than actually read it (beyond the classics that I taught in school etc.).
I think that's why it's so important to give people poetry in a quick and easy format to read, like online.
I doubt anyone's making any money out of publishing poetry, so I agree that if you want people to read your work then the internet is your best bet.

I've never had my poetry published. But I still buy poetry books so someone must be making some money. I find so much more in books that I can't get online.

Have you actually used that website? An artist friend and I were thinking of making a book together in a limited run of a handmade book. He was going create visual work based on my writings and visa versa, but it would be nice if we could use a service like that if enough interest was gained if the handmade books sell.

I haven't, no, but it's quite popular so I assume it works well. You could look up some reviews I guess.

Few people buy poetry no matter how good it may be.there's very little money in poetry unless you become laureate or get your work in exam anthologies for schools.
. As a result many poets are very competitive and bitchy towards each other's work. I encountered this on the Poets Graves Forum where I was lectured about how to write. The bastard in charge threw me out, then died. (There is a god!)

I've never been published, and I jolly well don't deserve to be.
I dare say that if I begin writing to a standard worthy of print, it won't be for a good decade or so yet.

I won a poetry competition aged five :D But that aside, I wrote a poem about 5 years ago that got published into an anthology.

I've been published twice. Nothing major first the poem thing I entered in 5th grade and then again with Poetry.com but whatever that site is a crook. >_>

If you count entering competitions and winning them, then yeah, I guess. But it's only ever been with short stories. Never won with a poem.
Otherwise, nope. As has been said -- there's practically no market in poetry.

I don't think that's the reason any of us aren't getting published!
Anyhow, I think there is a market there. I know I'm also having a poke about the poetry in waterstones, although to be fair it's usually the older, established poets I'm buying.
