She tries to hide the marks
the telltale signs that mock her perfect smile
they tell a differant story than the life she shows
above the waterline
they speak of sharp rocks and rough seas strong
undercurrents and merciless waves that have
battered her again and again
she tries to hide the marks upon her flesh
she pulls a veil across her skin
but the mark on her soul and the scars in her eyes
are much more difficult to disguise

Great write, lovely use of metaphor through this.

These lines really stood out to me from the others.

A sad tale, but a beautiful poem.
