Hi there! I stumbled upon your forum, and I wonder if you could help me name a poem?

It goes like this:

my love says she would marry only me
and jove (sp?) himself could not make her care
for what women say to lovers you'll agree
one writes on running water or on air

It just stirred my curiosity, and maybe someone more informed than me could name it?

thanks

Is this an original poem written by yourself darkman ?

for to me, this seems to be a strange request !

No Leonidas, the poem is recited in the film Assassination Of Jesse James by the character Dick Liddel. It just stuck in my mind, and I wondered who had written it?

hello..have done a little look and i think it may be from the roman poet..gaius valerias catullus (c84bc-54bc)..written for the woman he had a brief affair with..clodia metelli.

you'll have to look for the whole poem..but that might help narrow it down:)
good luck!
