Have you ever run a magazine?
Maryd.
26-03-2010, 11:53 PM
No, but I want to start one... I was thinking of starting a feel good one and trying it out in my local area. Allow shops to advertise in it for free, if they put it on their shelves. The magazine will consist of good and warm hearted news only. Sound good?
Have you?
Henry P
27-03-2010, 12:04 AM
Yes, at my first school, a simple thing done before photocopying was ubiquitous. I liked doing it. In those days there was time for everything in school
Maryd.
27-03-2010, 12:13 AM
Actually sorry, I have organised a magazine... At a primary school... Funny I forgot.

Maryd.

Maryd.
27-03-2010, 03:10 PM
No, let her be, she is young and needs to be happy... But you deserve happiness too.
Have you ever spoke to anyone about this issue?

Maryd.
28-03-2010, 12:35 AM

Maryd.
28-03-2010, 02:04 AM

Have you?
Henry P
28-03-2010, 02:08 AM
Yes, teachers who left my first school years ago, in newsagents and on a pavement by a carpark. People age and change but stay recognisable

28-03-2010, 02:19 AM
Have you ever been to a formula 1 race?
Henry P
28-03-2010, 09:09 AM
Never. Did your husband and son go to see the Grand Prix?
Maryd.
28-03-2010, 12:55 PM
Yes, they did and Jensen Button won... They saw John Travolta but wasn't able to get close.
Henry P
28-03-2010, 01:08 PM
Travolta was waving the chequered flag, wasn't he? I'd have done it for half price and would have dropped in to see you.
Did they enjoy it?
Maryd.
28-03-2010, 01:23 PM
I'd have done it for quarter the price and would have welcomed you.
Yes. My son was so tired. He said he found it funny when they announced the winner and everyone cheered, then they announced a premier and everyone booed. Even at 12, my son is interested in politics. So funny. He said John Travolta looked sickly, his face was pale and withdrawn.
Henry P
28-03-2010, 01:35 PM
You Aussies have the right attitude to politicians.
Travolta is 55 or so, isn't he? Maybe he was given a dodgy Vegemite sandwich for all those films he made in the 80s between Grease and Pulp Fiction
Maryd.
28-03-2010, 01:43 PM
Pulp fiction... That movie made me ill. I liked him in Face-off, but maybe that's because I also liked Nicolas Cage. They worked well together. Problem with these actors, H, is that they won't age gracefully, like us.
Henry P
28-03-2010, 01:51 PM
I thought Pulp Fiction was brilliant.
I've thought about touching up my grey hairs to be as black as John T. What do you think?
Maryd.
28-03-2010, 01:55 PM
Oh my Henry, if you did that I would have to rush out and catch the next plane to Yorkshire... I wouldn't be able to control myself. But you don't need it sir, you are naturally gorgeous.
Henry P
28-03-2010, 01:59 PM
(basks in a warm glow)
Thanks, my dear. I was hoping for something like that. actually, I sometimes use an anti-aging gream I bought my wife and she wouldn't use because it might "cause cancer". pity to waste it

Have you ever regretted buying an item of clothing?
Maryd.
29-03-2010, 12:51 AM

Henry P

Maryd.
05-04-2010, 02:19 PM
why would one make fun of that. The teacher was an idiot. Family is everything.
Henry P
05-04-2010, 02:22 PM
He was an idiot. In his next school he was sacked for having sex at work
Maryd.
05-04-2010, 02:49 PM
No way, with who?
Henry P
05-04-2010, 02:50 PM
Another teacher. He skived off PE lessons to entertain an English teacher while I knew him
Maryd.
05-04-2010, 03:29 PM
I shouldn't laugh, but it is rather funny. Why would you have sex at work?
Henry P
05-04-2010, 03:35 PM
They probably couldn't keep their hands off each other, and he'd got away with it before
Maryd.
05-04-2010, 04:09 PM
Well he got caught eventually.
Have you ever been caught doing something you shouldn't be doing?
Henry P
05-04-2010, 04:12 PM
No, my dear, not yet. I'm too careful
Maryd.
05-04-2010, 04:32 PM
Have you ever wanted to turn back the block 24 hours?
Henry P
05-04-2010, 04:37 PM
I must have done, but I've got through a lot in one piece, so I can't think of an example
amberzak
05-04-2010, 06:25 PM
Have you ever wondered what why we are all here?
Henry P
05-04-2010, 09:45 PM
First to try to get people to say nice things about our poems, and then to talk to people,
Maryd.
05-04-2010, 09:52 PM
Have you ever wondered why we feel the need to talk to people?
Henry P
05-04-2010, 11:23 PM
Because we're social animals. We talk to feel human
Maryd.
06-04-2010, 01:55 AM
Have you ever wanted to hide from the world and/or people.
Henry P
06-04-2010, 08:39 AM
Yes, when people's demands have got on top of me. Have you?
Maryd.
06-04-2010, 09:19 AM
Yes. This year. Now.
Henry P
06-04-2010, 09:20 AM
Why? What 's happened?
amberzak
06-04-2010, 09:38 AM
Have you ever just decided to run away for a week
Henry P
06-04-2010, 09:42 AM
Yes, but I never did
Have you?
amberzak
06-04-2010, 10:32 AM
Always tempted, and one day I will.
Have you ever made a complaint about a collegue
Henry P
06-04-2010, 10:35 AM

Have you?
Maryd.
06-04-2010, 12:13 PM
No i don't complain about people, I just put up with them.
Have you ever been to an 'all you can eat' restaurant?
Henry P
06-04-2010, 12:33 PM
Never, but it sounds like a good idea.
Have you ever been to a pub where you can drink all you want for a set price?
Maryd.
06-04-2010, 12:44 PM
no. Do they exist?
Henry P
06-04-2010, 12:59 PM
They do here, where you can drink out 24/7, get free drinks for ladies, get half price drinks for certain periods, win free drinks in boozing games and other crap designed to make money. The government opened a Pandora's box with 24-/7 drinking to keep voters thick, p*ssed and content. The old soviet bloc kept its citizens down by cheap vodka too.
Sorry to rant, but it's true
Have you ever got free drinks in a pub?
Maryd.
06-04-2010, 01:25 PM
No but i would be in trouble if I did. After three drinks i'd fall asleep.
Have you ever fallen asleep during a drink with friends?
Henry P
06-04-2010, 01:34 PM
Never. I need to be horizontal to sleep.
Have you ever fallen off a chair in public?
Maryd.
06-04-2010, 01:46 PM
No but have fallen off the computer chair at home many times.
Have you?
Henry P
06-04-2010, 01:48 PM
Not for years. Why the computer chair, my dear?
Maryd.
06-04-2010, 02:12 PM
Don't laugh, but i nodd off slightly and then just slip off the chair. My kids laugh at their silly mum.
Have you ever saved someone from danger?
Henry P
06-04-2010, 04:31 PM

Maryd.
06-04-2010, 10:54 PM

amberzak
06-04-2010, 10:57 PM
more often than I'd care to think about
Have you?
Maryd.
06-04-2010, 11:16 PM
Yes and it was the hardest thing I ever had to do.
Have you ever regretted doing something?
Henry P
06-04-2010, 11:22 PM
I had to tell my daughter when she was eight that her grandmother had died.
Maryd.
06-04-2010, 11:26 PM
It's the worst thing to have to do. Especially to a little one.
Have you ever wanted to write your autobiography?
Henry P
06-04-2010, 11:30 PM
Yes, but who would want to read it or buy it?
amberzak
06-04-2010, 11:36 PM
I'll buy yours if you buy mine :D
Have you ever stayed in bed for 3 days because you were too depressed to get up?
Henry P
06-04-2010, 11:45 PM
That's deal, my dear.
I've gone to bed because I was depressed, but didn't stay there long.
amberzak
06-04-2010, 11:51 PM
I did, but apparently it was more traumatised than depressed.
Henry P
06-04-2010, 11:57 PM
I have this natural urge to sleep when I'm depressed, as a temporary escape. Luckily I usually feel better when I wake
amberzak
07-04-2010, 12:01 AM
Just reading your earlier posts - my Godson/Nephew was 6 when my brother died - brother had Muscular Dystrophy (there are some poems on the forum that I wrote for him, you can see them on my list of poems) and he was in his wheelchair and Godson was the only one in the room at the time.
He kept waking up from nightmares. Kept dreaming the world was burning and things like that, or that he was seeing my brother leave his body. Poor little mite. He wet the bed every night too. And he stopped talking for a while. Now when you see him, you can see he is different, you know
Henry P
07-04-2010, 12:07 AM
I'm lucky that Steph seemed to cope with her gran's death
amberzak
07-04-2010, 12:14 AM
I think Callum is coping reasonably well now (it was 2 and a half years ago) but his biggest thing was that he saw it. No child should have to see it. My brother stopped breathing basically, so it couldn't have been pleasant for Callum to see
Henry P
07-04-2010, 12:26 AM
Have you ever been really scared by a film?
Maryd.
07-04-2010, 09:08 AM

Have you?
Henry P
07-04-2010, 09:16 AM
only once, by one called Bug, about species of insect which caused fires when it got in people's ears. I went to bed and thought they were there too
amberzak
07-04-2010, 09:41 AM
The birds is the only film that scared me

Henry P
07-04-2010, 09:58 AM

no i am and always have been a suburban girl.
Have you ever wanted to live far away from city/suburban life?
Henry P
07-04-2010, 01:51 PM
Occasionally, when I visit the countryside
Do you?
Maryd.
07-04-2010, 02:38 PM
Yes i have always wanted to live in the outback.
Have you ever wanted to travel spontaneously.
Henry P
07-04-2010, 02:55 PM

Maryd.
07-04-2010, 03:36 PM
yes. But chickened out.
Have you ever worked out in a gym?
Henry P
07-04-2010, 03:41 PM
never. I'd be scared of starting and failing
amberzak
07-04-2010, 04:32 PM
Have you ever wanted different parents?
Henry P
07-04-2010, 06:06 PM
an interesting question, but no, because I like me and I wouldn't be me without their mix of genes.
Have you?
Maryd.
07-04-2010, 06:52 PM
You know the only way I can answer this question is by saying, 'which one? '
Have you ever wondered why people chose the partners they are with?
Henry P
07-04-2010, 07:15 PM
I certainly have. Have you?
Maryd.
07-04-2010, 07:49 PM
Yes. Have you ever wondered why we get it so wrong.
Henry P
07-04-2010, 08:05 PM
People change and we can't be sure how they'll react to events we can't foresee. Most people are intrinsically selfish too
Maryd.
07-04-2010, 08:37 PM
I'll believe that theory. I have too. I have believe there is a reason why they feel the need to torment us.
Have ever tormented anyone?
Henry P
07-04-2010, 08:51 PM
Honestly, no.
You haven't either, have you?
Maryd.
07-04-2010, 09:42 PM
No, they'd probably laugh at me for trying.
Have you ever done something you were proud of?
Henry P
07-04-2010, 09:52 PM
Yes. I'm proud of myself for going to grammar school getting into uni, teaching for 30 years, changing jobs twice, getting out with a good pension, writing poetry, learning to cook, having a sense of humour, getting my daughter into grammar school, helping her through her illness...
Ordinary people like us have many things they should be proud of
Maryd.
07-04-2010, 10:23 PM
Wow Henry, I'm proud of you. Congratulations on your achievements. Mwah.
Have you ever felt really happy?
Henry P
07-04-2010, 10:42 PM

Maryd.
08-04-2010, 03:18 AM

Henry P
08-04-2010, 08:36 AM

Maryd.
08-04-2010, 04:48 PM
No haven't been to many.
Have you?
Henry P
08-04-2010, 04:56 PM
A fair few in Britain. Most have been good, but Blackpool, a famous northern resort on the Irish Sea is charmless- no scenery, flat as a pancake, just cold sea, howling wind, ancient pier, tacky shops selling crap , a rollercoaster which seems to be made of leftover scaffolding , a waxwork museum of unrecognisable dummies, and unbelievably one which purports to show the results of getting venereal disease by displaying wax models of private parts which look like melted candles
Maryd.
08-04-2010, 05:41 PM
have you ever wanted to work in a museum?
BattyOldMaid
08-04-2010, 05:56 PM
Nope, couldn't be bothered with the influx of stupid people.
Have you ever wished we'd hark back to the good ole days, especially when "children should be seen not heard" was proper?
Henry P
08-04-2010, 06:08 PM
There were no good old days- we just imagine them when something annoys us in the present day
Maryd.
09-04-2010, 12:38 AM
Oh I don't know about that my good sir. I use to enjoy waking up to a happier world 20 years ago.
Henry P
09-04-2010, 12:42 AM
perhaps you're right. I was happier 20 years ago
Maryd.
09-04-2010, 01:03 AM
Have you ever wanted to change something in your life?
Henry P
09-04-2010, 01:05 AM
Where do I start?
Maryd.
09-04-2010, 01:39 AM
Start with your heart my dear.
Henry P
09-04-2010, 08:35 AM
the state of my marriage for a start
Maryd.
09-04-2010, 09:43 AM
Have you ever just sat your wife down and told her - 'Enough is enough and just talk to me already!'
Henry P
09-04-2010, 09:48 AM
Yes, I did so in the past, but I'm not doing so this time, or she'll assume she has won and that I need her more than she needs me. Sounds harsh, but that's how it is. It's going to be 50/50 or nothing.
Maryd.
09-04-2010, 10:18 AM
You are so strong. I wish I was as strong as you.
Henry P
09-04-2010, 10:27 AM
strong or stupid, i'm not sure
Maryd.
09-04-2010, 12:40 PM
Don't know what anyone else thinks. But you can never be stupid to me. Mwah my special guy.
Henry P
09-04-2010, 12:47 PM
:hug:You are just so sweet, my dear
Maryd.
09-04-2010, 01:37 PM
Anything for my favourite man. Mwah
Henry P
09-04-2010, 01:42 PM
Mr Demetriou doesn't read this, does he?
Maryd.
09-04-2010, 03:43 PM
He doesn't read anything. I gave him my manuscript to read last August. He read 3 chapters and shoved it under the bed. Maybe it bored him.
Henry P
09-04-2010, 03:53 PM
My wife doesn't read either. Reading is for dreamers. People are mocked in poland by the barely literate for reading instead of cleaning or whatever. perhaps we should introduce them to each other?
Maryd.
09-04-2010, 04:10 PM
I think i've mentioned that before. Let's do it.
Henry P
09-04-2010, 07:52 PM
If he is good at "men's" jobs and has a moustache like her dad, she'll have him
Maryd.
09-04-2010, 11:00 PM
he is good at men's jobs but doesn't wear a moustache. I'm sure she'll like him. He would definitely like her. He likes women that don't talk.
Henry P
09-04-2010, 11:07 PM
Are these people telepathic or instinctive, like animals?
Maryd.
10-04-2010, 12:46 AM
No they can't stand people like us that can communicate. They only wish they can share their emotions.
Have you ever walked out on your partner?
Henry P
10-04-2010, 12:50 AM

Have you?
Maryd.
10-04-2010, 01:16 AM
No. Not yet. But there's still time!
Have you ever snapped at your child when you were angry about something else?
Henry P
10-04-2010, 09:40 AM
Probably, but I can't remember exactly. have you?
Maryd.
10-04-2010, 10:01 AM
Yes and have felt terribly guilty.
Have you ever snapped at your collegues because of issues at home?
