Silver Wind

Here is a game I have found fun before in the past as well as educational and useful. The idea of the game is someone posts a word, and then the next person, posts what they guess/think the word means, and then look it up and posts the real defintion, and then post a new word for the next person.
So here is the first word.

phonetics - so I'd guess it's a word that imitates a sound. But those are onomatopoeia..? Ugh something in that sense anyways.
Meaning: In human language, a phoneme (from the Greek: φώνημα, phōnēma, "a sound uttered") is the smallest posited structural unit that distinguishes meaning, though they carry no semantic content themselves. In theoretical terms, phonemes are not the physical segments themselves, but cognitive abstractions or categorizations of them.
