Henry P
10-08-2010, 12:46 PM
It's grey and coolish here too, with showers forecast
Maryd.
10-08-2010, 12:51 PM
It's supposed to be worse here tomorrow as well. Yukko... I hate that kind of weather. If it is that bad, I might wait before washing machine hunting.
Henry P
10-08-2010, 12:53 PM
You wrap up, my dear. I don't want my Mary D to get a chill
Maryd.
10-08-2010, 01:17 PM
I need something to keep me warm...
Henry P
10-08-2010, 01:24 PM
You could snuggle up to me, my dear
Maryd.
10-08-2010, 01:35 PM
Yes... But you are so far away... Are your arms long enough.
Henry P
10-08-2010, 04:13 PM
very long. One of my ancestors was a gibbon
Maryd.
11-08-2010, 12:03 AM
You character... Ok, reach out.
Henry P
11-08-2010, 12:28 AM
reaching out, my dear
Maryd.
11-08-2010, 12:55 AM
Nope, can't feel a thing.
Henry P
11-08-2010, 10:45 AM
my arms are reaching Madagascar now. I just have the Indian Ocean to cross and I'll warm them up ready for you over the Aussie desert
Maryd.
11-08-2010, 12:09 PM
Whistling... Waiting... Whistling... Waiting...
Henry P
11-08-2010, 05:01 PM
Reaching the Western Australian coast. can hear Maryd whistling in Strine...
Maryd.
11-08-2010, 10:57 PM
Singing... Dancing around and around with happiness.
Henry P
11-08-2010, 11:22 PM
Entering Victoria now (oops... sounds as dirty as intended) Can spot Maryd's black hair blowing in the wind...
Maryd.
11-08-2010, 11:59 PM
And it's windy at that... We've had some storms here over night. Pretty wild stuff.. Oh no, my hair... Argh!
Henry P
12-08-2010, 12:09 AM
Reaching north Melbourne, putting my arms round Mary to warm her up in the aussie winter
Maryd.
12-08-2010, 12:24 AM
trembles...
I wonder if it due to the cold whether or...
Henry P
12-08-2010, 12:25 AM
or...?
Maryd.
12-08-2010, 12:39 AM
Excited to be in the arms of a poet.
Henry P
12-08-2010, 12:43 AM
I'm so exciting, my dear
Maryd.
12-08-2010, 12:49 AM
Yes... Don't you think you are?
Henry P
12-08-2010, 12:54 AM
Not really
Maryd.
12-08-2010, 01:00 AM
Have you ever heard the saying one man's trash is another man's treasure?
Henry P
12-08-2010, 01:05 AM
we say meat and poison instead
Maryd.
12-08-2010, 01:09 AM
Funny... But also true.
Henry P
12-08-2010, 01:10 AM
I'm glad we can talk like this
Maryd.
12-08-2010, 01:17 AM
I'm glad that talking is free, or you and I could be up for a fortune. hahahaa
Henry P
12-08-2010, 01:20 AM
technology is wonderful
Maryd.
12-08-2010, 01:23 AM
Sometimes...
Henry P
12-08-2010, 01:26 AM
when it works
Maryd.
12-08-2010, 01:35 AM
Yes...
I am glad my computer is working.
Henry P
12-08-2010, 12:18 PM
I 'm glad mine is too
Maryd.
12-08-2010, 12:26 PM
Well mine is working for now... Something weird came up today... I'm hoping it's nothing
Henry P
12-08-2010, 12:32 PM
Mine shut itself down for an update this morning
Maryd.
12-08-2010, 12:43 PM
Actually it did happen after an update today.
Henry P
12-08-2010, 01:13 PM
i'm glad I haven't been virused for a while
Maryd.
12-08-2010, 01:15 PM
Great... No doubt I will be virused... Great!
Henry P
12-08-2010, 01:22 PM
why do you think so?
Maryd.
12-08-2010, 01:26 PM
Well, this sign flashed a few days before the virus arrived last time. Maybe I am just being paranoid, but it did happen.
Henry P
12-08-2010, 01:33 PM
I had that last week but nothing happened
Maryd.
12-08-2010, 01:44 PM
Well, time will tell, ha?
Henry P
12-08-2010, 01:48 PM
I hope not
Maryd.
12-08-2010, 02:13 PM
You and me both...
Henry P
12-08-2010, 02:37 PM
I'm glad I have you to talk to
Maryd.
12-08-2010, 02:39 PM
I'm glad I have you too. Mwah.
Henry P
12-08-2010, 02:47 PM
You're cute, my dear
Maryd.
12-08-2010, 02:56 PM
I'm like a tennis racket though... When ever a compliment comes my way I wack one right back... You aren't just cute... You are sweet and cute.
Henry P
12-08-2010, 03:03 PM
boing... you're very caring, my dear
Maryd.
12-08-2010, 03:12 PM
Yes, I am just tad... I think it is my opponent... He's very good at Tennis.
Henry P
12-08-2010, 04:35 PM
not real tennis
Maryd.
12-08-2010, 11:09 PM
Well you'll have to learn... My dear sir it's the only sport I like to do. (Apart from dancing of course) what will we do, if I ever get a chance to visit?
Henry P
13-08-2010, 10:50 AM
I have romantic candlelit dinners and the theatre in mind
Maryd.
13-08-2010, 11:01 AM
Oh, I'd be happy with that.:)
Henry P
13-08-2010, 11:08 AM
i hoped so . Plus some sight-seeing
Maryd.
13-08-2010, 11:16 AM
Like sight seeing... Where?
Henry P
13-08-2010, 11:30 AM
first in Yorkshire, then further afield
Maryd.
13-08-2010, 11:33 AM
Somewhere quiet and secluded as well?
Henry P
13-08-2010, 11:35 AM
of course
Maryd.
13-08-2010, 11:51 AM
And warm and cosy?
Henry P
13-08-2010, 11:59 AM
I know just the place
Maryd.
13-08-2010, 12:14 PM
Oh, where?
Henry P
13-08-2010, 12:16 PM
a little pub at a tiny place called Hardraw in Wensleydale, with a real fire and good food and beautiful walks outside
Maryd.
13-08-2010, 12:23 PM
I love it already... It's sounds so romantic.
Henry P
13-08-2010, 01:06 PM
there's a waterfall up a path behind the pub. We can stay the night too
Maryd.
13-08-2010, 01:14 PM
Nice....
Henry P
13-08-2010, 01:25 PM
or we can wander about looking at the hills and listening to sheep calling
Maryd.
13-08-2010, 01:32 PM
Just as nice... I would love to do that.
Henry P
13-08-2010, 01:35 PM
i thought you would.
Maryd.
13-08-2010, 01:57 PM
I am sick of suburban life...
Henry P
13-08-2010, 02:02 PM
How far is it to countryside there?
Maryd.
13-08-2010, 02:24 PM
Long way away... I haven't ever been, I'll have to get out and check it out before you arrive.
Henry P
13-08-2010, 02:25 PM
which way is countryside? North?
Maryd.
13-08-2010, 02:49 PM
All sides It's just matter of taste.
Henry P
13-08-2010, 03:02 PM
I'm glad we have time to talk today
Maryd.
13-08-2010, 03:03 PM
I know... It's been the best day for a long time.
Henry P
13-08-2010, 03:15 PM
I'm glad it can be like this for the next two weeks at least
Maryd.
13-08-2010, 03:17 PM
I'm glad I will see Henry here for the next two weeks.
Henry P
13-08-2010, 03:30 PM
and beyond. two weeks and three days
Maryd.
13-08-2010, 03:52 PM
Yay... Mwah...
Henry P
13-08-2010, 03:56 PM
thanks, my dear
Ian The Poet
13-08-2010, 04:29 PM
I'm glad of this forum.
Maryd.
13-08-2010, 04:30 PM
I'm glad to be off to bed... Night all.
Henry P
13-08-2010, 08:08 PM
i'm glad I'm not hungry
Maryd.
14-08-2010, 12:25 AM
I'm glad today's the day my daughter enters the Science competition
Henry P
14-08-2010, 12:33 AM
good luck, my dear
Maryd.
14-08-2010, 12:35 AM
Thanks, poor dear is up against Melbourne's best though...
Henry P
14-08-2010, 12:41 AM
what will they have to do?
Maryd.
14-08-2010, 12:46 AM
She has to present some photos she had taken and explain the scientific principles behind them. (it's a photography competition, there were other categories, she chose photography)
Henry P
14-08-2010, 08:08 AM
I'm glad someone understands the science
Maryd.
14-08-2010, 11:08 AM
Yes... There's a lot more to it that we know. She worked it out... Me, I had no idea, what she was on about?
Henry P
14-08-2010, 11:09 AM
i'm glad we have clever kids
Maryd.
14-08-2010, 11:15 AM
I'm gald they are beautiful as well.
Henry P
14-08-2010, 11:16 AM
they are, aren't they?
Maryd.
14-08-2010, 11:27 AM
We are so lucky, aren't we...
Henry P
14-08-2010, 11:29 AM
very lucky.
Maryd.
14-08-2010, 11:40 AM
Can life get better?
Henry P
14-08-2010, 11:41 AM
yes, but we might be wise to settle for what we have
Maryd.
14-08-2010, 11:53 AM
Sure...
Henry P
14-08-2010, 11:57 AM
Technology (when it works) makes me glad
Maryd.
14-08-2010, 12:03 PM
Yes. me too.
Henry P
14-08-2010, 12:06 PM
I'm also glad that I'm in good health
Maryd.
14-08-2010, 12:18 PM
I'm glad I am still a friendly person
Henry P
14-08-2010, 12:21 PM
You are very friendly, my dear
Maryd.
14-08-2010, 12:24 PM
Thanks my love, you are too.
Henry P
14-08-2010, 12:27 PM
I have very few friends over here, though
Maryd.
14-08-2010, 12:35 PM
Why's that?
Henry P
14-08-2010, 12:38 PM
I'm quite suspicious of people and won't stand any condescension . The English are hard to warm to anyway
Maryd.
14-08-2010, 12:45 PM
Why have you warmed to me?
Henry P
14-08-2010, 12:57 PM
you're warm and open and not English. and we have so many things in common
Maryd.
14-08-2010, 11:29 PM
I'm glad I'm up early today.
Henry P
14-08-2010, 11:37 PM
i'm glad you are
Maryd.
14-08-2010, 11:41 PM
I'm glad you are still awake
Henry P
14-08-2010, 11:46 PM
i have to talk to you before I go to bed, my dear
Maryd.
14-08-2010, 11:54 PM
I know... One must have one's daily dose of Mary&Henry... Chat.
Henry P
15-08-2010, 12:01 AM
exactly
Maryd.
15-08-2010, 12:06 AM
Do you think the people here, on The Poetry Forum are sick of all our silliness?
Henry P
15-08-2010, 12:09 AM
i like being silly. they have the chance to join in anyway,
Maryd.
15-08-2010, 12:14 AM
Yes, this is true... It would get rather confusing and we would have to learn how to type fast.
Henry P
15-08-2010, 12:22 AM
i'm ready for them
Maryd.
15-08-2010, 12:36 AM
I'm still to slow...
Henry P
15-08-2010, 12:41 AM
i only use two fingers
Maryd.
15-08-2010, 12:44 AM
I'm a touch typist and know how to organsie the keys and all, but I have never been fast at typing.
Henry P
15-08-2010, 12:47 AM
what does touch typist mean?
Maryd.
15-08-2010, 12:52 AM
Means I can type and not look at the keys.
Henry P
15-08-2010, 12:54 AM
i'm getting better at that
Maryd.
15-08-2010, 01:01 AM
I'm glad I had time to chat to my special friend.
Henry P
15-08-2010, 09:01 AM
i'm glad i have time for this forum
Maryd.
15-08-2010, 12:53 PM
I'm glad Henry and I can chat freely this week.
Henry P
15-08-2010, 01:17 PM
Just about, but I have to take Steph to Harrogate tonight and come back
Maryd.
15-08-2010, 01:42 PM
Never mind... It's just once.
Henry P
15-08-2010, 03:04 PM
yes..
Maryd.
15-08-2010, 03:42 PM
And your's truly will be here upon your return...
Henry P
15-08-2010, 03:48 PM
at the airport?
Maryd.
15-08-2010, 03:52 PM
Yes, what time will you pick me up?
Henry P
15-08-2010, 04:44 PM
I thought you might pick me up in your speedwagon?
Maryd.
15-08-2010, 11:36 PM
What speedwagon?
Henry P
16-08-2010, 12:19 AM
That Nissan
Maryd.
16-08-2010, 01:01 AM
Speedwagon... Hahahaha... Yep, I thik that little Nissan will get us from A to B in about, oh, let's see now... ... ... A week... hahahaha
Henry P
16-08-2010, 01:10 AM
my Lexus still runs very well
Maryd.
16-08-2010, 01:22 AM
Wrap it up... I'll take it.
Henry P
16-08-2010, 01:26 AM
I'm glad I've had good cars
Maryd.
16-08-2010, 01:32 AM
I'm glad I didn't. It made me get my hands dirty and learn about their motors.
Henry P
16-08-2010, 01:36 AM
what can you fix? I can't do anything
Maryd.
16-08-2010, 01:43 AM
Well, firstly changing tyres... Easy. Just need muscles for that. I grew up tough enough to handle that. Secondly, I could pull apart the Carberator (don't know if that is the correct spelling) hold the butterfly down and poor small amounts of petrol on it whilst someone started the car, as I would always flood it, when starting it. I had a Toyota Corona... Love the little Japanese cars. There easy to fix. Now of course everything is put together with wires, I have no idea what I am doing.
Henry P
16-08-2010, 01:46 AM
they're much more complicated now
Maryd.
16-08-2010, 02:02 AM
I'm gald I am off to look at washing machines again.
Henry P
16-08-2010, 10:10 AM
any machines shortlisted?
Maryd.
16-08-2010, 11:22 AM
Have a couple in mind... But I still want to look at more. So far have been using the web to browse and get reviews on different machines. But it has only confused me. I'd like to go out tomorrow and look at a few different shops and then decide. By the end of the week... I will stop going to the laundriette... But not before I write some poems om all the odd looking characters that enter the wash house.
Henry P
16-08-2010, 11:28 AM
good idea for the poem, my dear
Maryd.
16-08-2010, 11:37 AM
Oh Henry if you see these people... Sad though... It is the decay of society. With a couple of rude arrogant people... Not to mention all the new immigrants that you have to show how to use the machines.
Henry P
16-08-2010, 11:47 AM
I've only been in a laundrette once in ten years. It was filthy
Maryd.
16-08-2010, 12:03 PM
And scary Henry... The drunks, the ladies of the night and the 'not so nice' men, that you don't turn your back on.
Henry P
16-08-2010, 12:05 PM
Find a better class of laundrette, my dear
Maryd.
16-08-2010, 12:08 PM
There's not much around...
Henry P
16-08-2010, 12:15 PM
take a big stick...
Maryd.
16-08-2010, 12:22 PM
Or a grenade.
Henry P
16-08-2010, 12:24 PM
make sure you know the timing. Or throw it in and leg it
Maryd.
16-08-2010, 12:29 PM
Or I could just learn how to run...
Henry P
16-08-2010, 12:36 PM
No, get a new washer, which is proven reliable
Maryd.
16-08-2010, 12:42 PM
Yes... That's why I am going alone. This way I chose. Last time I left it up to him... Said he had a friend in the business. Not anymore.
Henry P
16-08-2010, 12:49 PM
do some research about reliability. Buy a Bosch or a Miele if you can afford one
Maryd.
16-08-2010, 12:54 PM
I was looking at those on line today...
Henry P
16-08-2010, 12:58 PM
and.?
Maryd.
16-08-2010, 01:05 PM
Stupidly I went on a review sight and the darn thing has confused me... People just ramble on about the cons... of a machine.
Henry P
16-08-2010, 05:12 PM
Do you have an Aussie version of Which? consumer association?
Maryd.
17-08-2010, 12:04 AM
Don't know, you seem to be in with the know with this sort of stuff.
Henry P
17-08-2010, 12:43 AM
i know the German ones are best. I assume the models are the same down there
Maryd.
17-08-2010, 01:13 AM
Yes.. I saw a few Bosch and Miele, but I believe they like to advertise their own brands... Fisher and Piekel is advertised a lot here. But this last one I had was one and it broke down after 5 years. 'Life's Good' is advertised a lot as well. Westinghouse use tobe popular and when I was growing up we had a Hoover... It lasted forever and a day.
Henry P
17-08-2010, 08:40 AM
that was when technology was simpler- things have changed with more electronics involved
Maryd.
17-08-2010, 08:42 AM
I bought one... Yay...
Henry P
17-08-2010, 08:49 AM
what have you bought?
Maryd.
17-08-2010, 09:28 AM
Life's Good... A very good one, too.
Henry P
17-08-2010, 09:49 AM
which make and model?
Maryd.
17-08-2010, 01:59 PM
LT-R107 Life's Good - Horizon. 10 kilo Turbo
Henry P
17-08-2010, 02:00 PM
i've never heard of it, my dear, but that means little
Maryd.
17-08-2010, 02:36 PM
Never mind... It looked really good and has features like control temperature... And all sorts of weird odds and ends. It works for this family... We go through clothes like water.
Henry P
17-08-2010, 02:40 PM
You need a big drum
Maryd.
17-08-2010, 02:55 PM
Yes and now they don't even have an agitator in them... It's just a big drum... That's it.
Henry P
17-08-2010, 02:56 PM
A fast spin speed is important too. (Don't you think I'm very domesticated?)
Maryd.
17-08-2010, 03:13 PM
Yes sir... Very domesticated, or a washing machine salesman.
Henry P
17-08-2010, 03:15 PM
I'd give you a good discount, my dear
Maryd.
17-08-2010, 03:40 PM
I bet you would...
Henry P
17-08-2010, 03:45 PM
and i'd come to plumb it in myself
Maryd.
17-08-2010, 03:58 PM
Would you charge me for installation?
Henry P
17-08-2010, 04:00 PM
that depends...
Maryd.
17-08-2010, 04:09 PM
On what?
Henry P
17-08-2010, 04:20 PM
on whether I get a warm welcome with lasagne and cheesecake with strawberries on top
Maryd.
17-08-2010, 04:31 PM
And a glass of sweet red wine.
Henry P
17-08-2010, 04:32 PM
Then I'm definitely coming
Maryd.
17-08-2010, 11:14 PM
Ok, I get the best china out... Ar, I don't have any best china...
Henry P
17-08-2010, 11:23 PM
I'll bring our Royal Doulton
Maryd.
17-08-2010, 11:35 PM
Don't know it... But it sounds precious, wrap them carefully.
Henry P
17-08-2010, 11:49 PM
I will.
Maryd.
18-08-2010, 12:04 AM
Can I ask you to bring a beautiful sweet red wine as well?
Henry P
18-08-2010, 12:12 AM
you like your sweet red wine , my dear. I'll bring port, madeira and marsala for your delectation
Maryd.
18-08-2010, 12:57 AM
Don't like port, but if you like it bring it.
Henry P
18-08-2010, 12:58 AM
i'll be glad to

I'm glad you're happy with it. did you buy an extended warranty just in case it plays up in 13 months' time?

18-08-2010, 03:44 PM

Maryd.
18-08-2010, 03:57 PM
But it's so cute... It plays a little music when it finishes a load.
Henry P
18-08-2010, 03:59 PM
Music? Ours just beeps
Maryd.
19-08-2010, 12:31 AM
I know. The first time it did it, I laughed so hard I cried. I found it odd, bringing back memories of when our old machine walk take walks around the laundry beeping all over the place... I imagined this one, get up and doing a Waltz.
Henry P
19-08-2010, 12:35 AM

Maryd.
19-08-2010, 01:00 AM
The kids and I are trying to work out the tune... Frances thinks it is something she heard from a disney movie... It is familiar.
Henry P
19-08-2010, 01:04 AM
is it quiet when it runs?
Maryd.
19-08-2010, 01:16 AM
Yes, blissful... I can hear the spin, but it's so much quieter than the other machine. Plus I kept the door open, to check on it occasionally and still it was quieter.
Henry P
19-08-2010, 01:27 AM
Like ours. very good
Maryd.
19-08-2010, 01:29 AM

i'm glad washing does not involve boiling, washboards and mangles any more
Maryd.
19-08-2010, 01:39 AM
I used a washboard when the kids were little. Whilst at home I used normal nappies/diapers, not disposables..
Henry P
19-08-2010, 01:41 AM
we used ultra pampers, but my mum had a gas-fired wash boiler and a mangle
Maryd.
19-08-2010, 01:44 AM
What's a mangle? If it is a hand wringer, then we had one of those too.
Henry P
19-08-2010, 01:48 AM
the wet laundry is passed between two rollers which squeezed out the water
Maryd.
19-08-2010, 01:50 AM
