[ 1 ] - Sarah McLaughlin - Arms of an angel
Reason: I want this song played at my funeral, during my darkest hours this has been one of the songs I've played on loop.. Its so sorrowful and talks to me about comfort and protection, and death.
I need some distraction, oh beautiful release
Memories seep from my veins
They may be empty and weightless, and maybe
I'll find some peace tonight
In the arms of an Angel, fly away from here
From this dark, cold hotel room, and the endlessness that you fear
You are pulled from the wreckage of your silent reverie
You're in the arms of an Angel; may you find some comfort here
[ 2 ] - Staind - Its been awhile
Reason: This song was played when I had my first crush, over and over again, haha. He taught me how to 'rp' and I was only 13 (bless). It was my first real crush with emotional involvement, but I was too young for him, aww..
And it's been awhile
Since I've seen the way the candles light your face
And everything I can't remember
As fucked up as it all may seem to be I know it's me
I cannot blame this on my father
He did the best he could for me
And everything I can't remember
As fucked up as it all may seem
The consequences that I've rendered
I've stretched myself beyond my means
[ 3 ] - Alanis Morissette - Perfect
Reason: This song is the song I play when I think about my parents. Mainly my dad. It reminds me of sports day.. sighs..
Be a good girl
You've gotta try a little harder
That simply wasn't good enough
To make us proud
I'll live through you
I'll make you what I never was
If you're the best, then maybe so am I
Compared to him, compared to her
I'm doing this for your own damn good
You'll make up for what I blew
What's the problem...why are you crying?
Be a good boy
Push a little further now
That wasn't fast enough
To make us happy
We'll love you just the way you are
(if you're perfect)
[ 4 ] - John Martyn - May You Never
Reason: Played at Laura's wake, so reminds me of her and her funeral. My most precious song. I only play this to people I trust to understand how much it means to me and I dont listen to it often.
your just like a great strong brother of mine and you know that i love you true
You never talk dirty behind my back and i know there are those that do
won't you please, won't you please, won't you bear in mind
love is a lesson to learn in our time
won't you please won't please won't you bear in mind for me
may you never lay your head down without a hand to hold
may you never make your bed out in the cold
and your just like a good close sister me and you know that i love you true
you hold no blade to stab me in the back and i know that some do
won't you please won't you please won't you bear in mind
love is a lesson to learn time
won't you please won't you please won't you bear it mind for me
May you never lose your temper if you get hit in a bar room fight
May you never lose your woman over night
[ 5 ] - Counting Crows - Anna Begins
Reason: The Counting Crows are one of the bands I grew up with (Waterboys, Alanis Morissette, Spin Doctors, The Beatles and The Counting Crows are my youngest memories), and this is my favourite song of theirs, I just love it. This and 'Waterboys - A Man Is In Love' I think taught me what love is supposed to be like, that helpless, can't help it, love them, kind of love.
I am not worried
Wrap her up in a package of lies
Send her off to a coconut island
She can't stop shaking I can't stop touching her and
This time when kindness falls like rain
It washes her away and Anna begins to change her mind
"These seconds when I'm shaking leave me shuddering for days," she says
And I'm not ready for this sort of thing
But I'm not going to break and I'm not going to worry about it anymore
I'm not going to bend, and I'm not going to break and I'm not going to worry about it anymore
It seems like I should say, "As long as this is love..."
But it's not all that easy so maybe I should
Snap her up in a butterfly net Pin her down on a photograph album
The time when kindness falls like rain
It washes me away and Anna begins to change my mind
And everytime she sneezes I believe it's love and
Oh lord, I'm not ready for this sort of thing
She's talking in her sleep
It's keeping me awake and Anna begins to toss and turn
And every word is nonsense but I understand and
Oh lord, I'm not ready for this sort of thing
[ 6 ] - Jeff Buckley - Hallelujah
Reason: Its just a beautiful song about desperation and love and loss, and I love it.
Well I heard there was a secret chord
That David played, and it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for music, do ya?
Well it goes like this
The fourth, the fifth
The minor fall and the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah
Love is not a victory march
It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah
Well maybe there's a God above
But all I've ever learned from love
Was how to shoot somebody who'd out drew ya
And it's not a cry that you hear at night
It's not somebody who's seen the light
It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah
[ 7 ] - Evanescence - My Immortal
Reason: I want this song played at my funeral (same as Arms Of The Angels), during my darkest hours this has been one of the songs I've played on loop.. Its so sorrowful and reminds me of all the loss in my life... Laura mainly. Reminds me of getting her dressed for school, the way she smelt, writing her letters after she died.. lots of things
I'm so tired of being here
Suppressed by all my childish fears
And if you have to leave
I wish that you would just leave
'Cause your presence still lingers here
And it won't leave me alone
These wounds won't seem to heal
This pain is just too real
There's just too much that time cannot erase
When you cried I'd wipe away all of your tears
When you'd scream I'd fight away all of your fears
And I held your hand through all of these years
But you still have
All of me
You used to captivate me
By your resonating light
Now I'm bound by the life you left behind
Your face it haunts
My once pleasant dreams
Your voice it chased away
All the sanity in me
I've tried so hard to tell myself that you're gone
But though you're still with me
I've been alone all along
[ 8 ] - Natalie Imbruglia - Torn
Reason: My mom played this song when my dad stopped speaking to her and I, on a loop (well the whole album but as this was song 1 I heard this most often). He hated it, but it was how she and I felt at the time.. torn.. like we didn't matter. We never talked about it but this song helped us know we werent alone.
Well you couldnt be that man I adored
You dont seem to know, dont seem to care what your heart is for
But I dont know him anymore
Theres nothing where he used to lie
My conversation has run dry
Thats whats going on, nothings fine Im torn
Im all out of faith, this is how I feel
Im cold and I am shamed lying naked on the floor
Illusion never changed into something real
Im wide awake and I can see the perfect sky is torn
Youre a little late, Im already torn
[ 9 ] - Papa Roach - Last Resort
Reason: This song I used to listen to when I cut myself, I no longer can listen to this song, I try not to cut any more and this song triggers me, but I am still grateful for this song, it is the only song that really explains how self harm feels..
Cut my life into pieces
Ive reached my last resort
Suffocation
No breathing
Don't give a fuck if I cut my arm, bleeding
Do you even care if I die bleeding?
Would it be wrong?
Would it be right?
If I took my life tonight
Chances are that I might
Mutilation outta sight
And Im contemplating suicide
Cuz Im losing my sight
Losing my mind
Wish somebody would tell me Im fine
Losing my sight
Losing my mind
Wish somebody would tell me Im fine
Searching to find a love up on a higher level
Finding nothing but questions and devils
[ 10 ] - The Beatles - Blackbird
Reason: The Beatles, sighs, aren't they wonderful? =) The Beatles create good memories... when I was a kid my dad would drink cider and play the guitar, (hes a song writer now) and if I was good that day sometimes I would be allowed to sing the Beatles songs he played, and sometimes I would feel like he was proud of me, my voice is failing now, I think I out grew it, but I used to be great. And blackbird is my favourite of them all.
Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise.
Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these sunken eyes and learn to see
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to be free.
[ 11 ] - David Bowie - Kooks
Reason: My mum used to sing this to me in the bath.. lmao.. when I was *really* little. Okay this sounds queer. anyway.. I used to share my baths with my disabled sister, because she and I were inseperable (until I got older ok, shut up). And mum used to sing to us to keep us calm, and this was one of the songs, and I always loved it because I had weird hippy parents and the song reminded me of them.
And if you ever have to go to school
Remember how they messed up
this old fool
Don't pick fights with the bullies
or the cads
'Cause I'm not much cop at punching other people's Dads
And if the homework brings you down
Then we'll throw it on the fire
And take the car downtown
Will you stay in our Lovers' Story
If you stay you won't be sorry
'Cause we believe in you
Soon you'll grow so take a chance
With a couple of Kooks
Hung up on romancing
[ 12 ] - Pink - Numb
Reason: When I ran away from home and lived with my first boyfriend J for a few months I only had the Pink album... it played on a loop in the background most days... years later listening to the album this song stood out, Numb.. A song about rape and abuse (in my opinion) that would of been played as it was happening to me.. this song is another one of my sad songs
At times I would push my feelings aside to let
you feel
I'm novicane I'm numb and nothing's real
Like the coldest winter, I am frozen from you
I was weak before now you made me so numb
I can't feel much for you anymore
I gave you my all, my baby
I'm numb, numb, numb
But the tears were silent inside you see
But the tears were silent inside you see
I laid there quiet, watched you have your way
with me
I might have cried, the tears were silent inside
you see
You called me names, made me feel like I was dumb
I didn't feel a thing and now I'm gone, gone,
gone
Like a battered child I got used to your pain
But you know its cuz
I was weak before now you made me so numb
I can't feel much for you anymore
I gave you my all, my baby
I'm numb, numb, numb
[ 13 ] - John Legend - Save Room
Reason: One of the songs I fell in love with Joe to.. what more need I say? We used to say 'save room' to remind ourselves (mainly me :P) to not let depression push us apart...
save room for my love
save room for a moment to be with me
save room for my love save a little
save a little for me
won't you save a little
save a little for me - ohh
This just might hurt a little
love hurts sometimes when you do it right
Don't be affraid of a little bit of pain
pleasure is just on the other side
Let down your guard just a little
I keep you safe in these arms of mine
Hold on to me - pretty baby
You will see I can be all you need
[ 14 ] - Eagle Eyed Cherry - Save Tonight
Reason: Ok the reasons for this song being on this list are twofold. Originally this song would of made my list for being the first song I performed live, in a female singers band at a festival. ~ Yummy. But then, last year, as I prepared for the love of my life leaving the country for 3 months, I played this song. It seemed to fit. I even played it the night before he left, and then most days while he was gone and we couldnt talk.. but luckily for me, he came back.
Well we know I'm going away
and how I wish, I wish it weren't so
So take this wine and drink with me
let's delay our misery
Save tonight
and fight the break of dawn
Come tomorrow
tomorrow I'll be gone
There's a log on the fire
and it burns like me for you
Tomorrow comes with one desire
to take me away it's true
It ain't easy to say goodbye
darling please don't start to cry
Cause girl you know I've got to go, oh
Lord I wish it wasn't so
[ 15 ] - Black Eyed Peas - Shut Up
Reason: Roflmao... I had to add this one. Just for the memory of Glastonbury Music Festival, and going absolutely nuts at the Black Eyed Peas gig, they played this song and all my frustration at my then-boyfriend Chris came out and I went *mad* and the cameras were on me the whole time (luckily he was not watching Glasto live). It just reminds me of the pain of being ignored, belittled and neglected and made to feel worthless.
We try to take it slow
But we're still losin control
And we try to make it work
But it still isn't the worst
And I'm craaazzzy
For tryin to be your laaadddy
I think I'm goin crazy
Girl lip so much she tryin to get you to listen
Few mad at each other has become our tradition
You yell, I yell, everybody yells
Got neighbors across the street sayin
“Who the hell?!?”
Who the hell?
What the hell's going down?
Too much of the bickering
Kill it with the sound and
Shut up
Just shut up
Shut up
[ 16 ] - 3 Doors Down - Story Of A Girl
Reason: Sighs, its just so me. Current status.
How many lovers would stay?
Just to put up with this shit day after day
How did we wind up this way?
Watching our mouths for the words that we say
As long as we stand here waiting
Wearing the clothes on the soles of our shoes
How do we get there today?
When we're walking too far for the price of her shoes
This is the story of a girl
Who cried a river and drowned the whole world
And while she looks so sad in photographs
I absolutely love her
When she smiles
[ 17 ] - Santana - Smooth
Reason: This is my version of 'first LP owned' lol. First song I played to death, on loop, over and over and over and over.... Sexy song.
Man its a hot one
Like seven inches from the midday sun
I hear you whisper and the words melt everyone
But you stay so cool
My mu equita my spanish harlem mona lisa
Your my reason for reason
The step in my groove
And if you say this life aint good enough
I would give my world to lift you up
I could change my life to better suit your mood
Cause youre so smooth
And just like the ocean under the moon
Well thats the same emotion that I get from you
You got the kind of lovin that can be so smooth
Gimme your heart make it real
Or else forget about it
[ 18 ] - Maroon 5 - She Will Be Loved
Reason: The Maroon 5 album was the soundtrack to my relationship with Chris. After my relationship with J I didnt think Id ever be in love again, I was in so much pain and so hurt.. and despite ALL of Chris's bad points, he did teach me that no matter how many times you get hurt, loving and being loved, is worth it.
Beauty queen of only eighteen
She had some trouble with herself
He was always there to help her
She always belonged to someone else
I drove for miles and miles
And wound up at your door
I've had you so many times but somehow
I want more
I don't mind spending everyday
Out on your corner in the pouring rain
Look for the girl with the broken smile
Ask her if she wants to stay awhile
And she will be loved
She will be loved
Tap on my window knock on my door
I want to make you feel beautiful
I know I tend to get so insecure
It doesn't matter anymore
It's not always rainbows and butterflies
It's compromise that moves us along, yeah
My heart is full and my door's always open
You can come anytime you want
I know where you hide
Alone in your car
Know all of the things that make you who you are
I know that goodbye means nothing at all
Comes back and begs me to catch her every time she falls
[ 19 ] - Incubus - Stellar
Reason: This song was Joe & I's song, so many warm memories of listening to him singing along with it unconsciously as it played through one of our headphones.. so many songs, so many gorgeous memories....
Meet me in outer space
I will hold you close, if you're afraid of heights
I need you to see this place, it might be the only way;
that I can show you how
It feels to be inside of you
How do you do it?
Make me feel like I do.
How do you do it?
It's better than I ever knew.
How do you do it?
Make me feel like I do
Ohhh...
You are stellar.
[ 20 ] - Motion City Soundtrack - Lets Get Fucked Up & Die
Reason: Like Papa Roach, this is a feel-good-while-you-die song, that I love. Its accurate, sharp and poignant.
Let's get fucked up and die..
I'm speaking figuratively, of course..
Like the last time I committed suicide.. social suicide..
Yeah, so I'm already dead on the inside,
But I can still pretend with my memories and photographs,
I've learned to love the lie.
I wanna know what it's like to be awkward and innocent, not belligerent.
I wanna know how it feels to be useful and pertinent and have common sense.. yeah
Let me in, let me in to the club, cuz I wanna belong,
And I need to get strong, and if memory serves,
I'm addicted to words and they're useless.
(In this department)
Let's get fucked up and die.
For the last time I'm feeling
we'll try not to smile
As we cover our heads and drink heavily into the nights
Thats no shocking and surprise.
I believe that I can, overcome this and beat everything in the end
But I choose to abuse for the time being,
maybe I'll win, but for now I've decided to die.
Sister soldier
Youve been such a positive influence on my mental frame
If I could ever repay you,
I would, but I'm hard up for cash
And my memory lacks initiative.
God damn the liquor stores' closed,
were so close to scoring
it hurts, it destroys til it kills..
I am tired and hungry and totally useless.
smorzando
07-09-2007, 01:50 PM
[ 1 ] Mozart's Coronation Concerto
reason: I practically grew up on chamber music... this was my favourite concerto lol. good memories
[ 2 ] Vivaldis 4 seasons - winter
reason: another childhood favouite... made me fall in love with violin
[ 3 ] Nobody's Home - Avril Lavigne
reason: when I was younger it was the only song I'd listen to when things were bad at home. I used to love yelling along when no one could hear lol
[ 4 ] Requiem - Mozart
reason: I want this played at my funeral. it was the last piece mozart ever wrote and he never got to finish it
[ 5 ] My Immortal - Evanescence
reason: Id often end up falling asleep listening to this song - not the rock version lol - i dont know why either, I mean, it isnt *quite* what youd want to fall asleep to, not the most uplifting song ever, but still..
[ 6 ] Take away my pain - Dream Theater
reason: great song, great lyrics, but that isnt really the reason. I dont actually know... I just happened to see it and KNEW i needed to put it in here.
[ 7 ] Fantaisie Impromptu (the really famous one lol) - Chopin
reason: always reminds me of Justine.. the first counsellor I ever had. she was awesome... she's on maternity leave now, but in our last session because we both loved music so much she picked her favourite songs and I picked some of mine and we swapped songs the entire time
[ 8 ] Rondo in D K485 - Mozart
reason: see above ^ also I am learning how to play this song now, every time i play it i always feel happier because I remember justine =D
[ 9 ] The Lost Seagull - Dulcie Holland
Such a sad song that no one's heard of. The first real repertoire piece I ever played on piano. I can still play it now, and its the piece I always play when requested to play piano.
[ 10 ] listen to the rain - evanescence
reason: another song I used to fall asleep to with my ipod in. it seemed to have a calming effect on me. the reason I got a good nights sleep quite often haha
[ 11 ] Hands - Jewel
reason: it always managed to cheer me up. and I always loved the lyrics too 'in the end, only kindness matters'
[ 12 ] Andecy - Andrew York
reason: first real guitar repertoire... I love to play this song to calm down at the end of the day
[ 13 ] Rumba Flamenca - Koch (Saffire, the Australian guitar quartet)
It always calmed me down when I was pissed off
[ 14 ] Light Surrounding You - Evermore
reason: the ultimate song to cheer me up lol.
[ 15 ] Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring (piano arrangement) - bach
reason: I dont actually know... I've just always loved the song for some reason. its just so powerful if its played correctly.
[ 16 ] O Ignis Spiritus - Jan Garbarek and the Hilliard Ensemble
reason: another song from Justine...
[ 17 ] Working it out - Hilary Duff
the first ever pop song I played over, and over, and over, and over, and over... and you get the picture lol
[ 18 ] Supregirl - Krystal Harris
Reason: another song I loved to play over, and over, and over, and over lol.
[ 19 ] Winter Wind Etude - Chopin
reason: the first song I heard at a piano concert. it completely left me speechless, and I had it stuck in my head the entire night when I was in bed.
[ 20 ] Breakdown - Plain White Ts
reason: it was first sent to me by a friend of mine... he said it reminded him of me a few years ago. cant say I blame him either - its pretty accurate
Mickalangelo
08-09-2007, 10:17 AM
in no particular order:
[ 1 ] - No use for a name - The saddest song
reason: the brilliant lyrics that have been inspirering me for over 2 years now. the song maybe doesn't sound sad and maybe you won't catch the brilliance of the lyrics the first time you listen to them, but what they talk about really is the saddest thing in the world.
[ 2 ] - Art Garfunkel - Bright eyes
reason: One of the first english songs that I knew that I liked, it's on the waterships down soundtrack and it's pretty damned brilliant. I remember it being played when they think one of them is dead. I always thought it was a great song.
[ 3 ] - Bad Religion - Better off Dead
reason: the only song that I ever heard that is written from God's point of view, and I think it is brilliant. It's sarcasm in it's purest form and even though it doesn't seem to get thru to you right away, it tells you to just get over yourself and stop whining. guess why I like it.
[ 4 ] - Army of Freshmen - Put me in a photograph
reason: just something I really can relate to and it's something different too. a song about a kid who feels lonenly because he keeps moving which keeps him from making friends and that's what I kinda have been doing especially for the first 10 years of my life.
[ 5 ] - Avril Lavigne - slipped away
reason: ashamed to say I listen to avril lavigne actually, but she has a couple of songs that have nice lyrics. This is one of them, can't say much more about it really.
[ 6 ] - Green Day - Good riddance (time of your life)
reason: classic song in my opinion. It just has a nice feel to it I guess, and again, the lyrics are brilliant. and it has this little thing to it that I always hope that people make something of their lives... dunno; probably just me.
[ 7 ] - Disturbed - Prayer
reason: A song that keeps coming back to me and I can realate to in whatever mood I might be. there aren't a lot of songs you can always relate to and that's why it's in my top 20.
[ 8 ] - Metalica - Nothing else matters
reason: nice slow song that I have liked from the moment I heard it, also the first song I could tab (a simplified version) at age 8 because my sister would play it to me...
[ 9 ] - Linkin' Park - In the end
reason: I remember walking home from school back in 10th grade singing this song over and over again because well, I had trouble going thru school and it always felt like whatever I did it never was enough to make it, so in the end, it never really mattered.
[ 10 ] - Chocking Victim - Fucked Reality
reason: Punk at it's best in my opinion. it talks about how fucked up the world is that we live in and that there are no winners. I'll be the first to admit though that this band has no talent for singing whatsoever.
[ 11 ] - The Elmo song
reason: it makes my nephew smile. enough said.
[ 12 ] - Limp Bizkit - Behind blue eyes
reason: the only Limp Bizkit song ever to be good, though I don't like the part where they go like 'L.I.M.P. say it, discover' but other than that it's brilliant. It wont be a suprise that they covered it and the original artist was the who (correct me if I'm wrong though)
[ 13 ] - Nick Drake - Suicide is painless
reason: theme song to M.A.S.H. and just a brilliant song all together.
[ 14 ] - Papa Roach - Scars
Reason: another song that I can relate to a lot. "my weaknes is that I care too much" <= best line ever. it just talks about how he wants to help her so badly but she won't let him or makes it too hard. and that's what I want to do myself, I want to help everybody, but I generally can't handle it.
[ 15 ] - Senses Fail - Calling all cars
reason: talks about honestly and how people yell at you for being honest. I think we already established that I'm 'brutally honest' (quote=isa). anyway, it's a great song. you do need to like some screamo though to listen to it.
[ 16 ] - Sevendust - Enemy
Reason: another 'why are you doing this to me' song. one of very few 'everything is your fault' songs though. I love it cuz it calms me down when I get angry.
[ 17 ] - Disturbed - Darkness
reason: one of the best songs ever written, very much unlike disturbed to be quiet like that and very good lyrics, again, lyrics that I relate to. it also inspired usernames at other forums.
[ 18 ] - Simple Plan - Perfect
reason: brilliant song, I think everybody can relate to this. after all, I think most people are sorry they can't be perfect.
[ 19 ] - The Daylights - Little girl
reason: I heard this song once at myspace and I have been trying to download it ever since. it's a feel good song I guess.
[ 20 ] - The Eagles - Desparato
reason: just a classic song, and a friend told me once it made her think of me.

To MICK
completely agree with your first two choices here...
Then onto Scars by Papa Roach... I dedicated this song to a man who beat me. I tried to help him and in the end he tried to take my life... he sits in prison now... because of me. I dedicated this song to him.
Love your playlist and I love how you put reasons behind each song.

Here is a list of songs, that are on my playlist on my ipod that I consider to be the soundtrack of my life, becasue they rerpesent some asepct of either my past or present.
[1 ] - It Has Been Awhile by Staind
This song really speaks to me in a personal well, and in many ways I can relate to the song, I know what it is like to make mistakes, and not be able to face yourself.
[ 2 ] - Head Like A Hole by NIN
Perhaps this is an odd choice, but there is just something about this song. It is one of thier best works I think, and I find this song a good way to get out your agreessions.
[ 3 ] - Roman Guitar by Lou Monte
This is an old Italian song, well half of it is song in Italian and half in english, but this perhaps is truly my song, it just really tocuhes me and speaks to me and the lyrics are so deep and beautfiul, they are true poetry.
[ 4 ] - We Will Rock You by Queen
This is a great song what can I say.
[ 5 ] - Shackled, By Vertical Horizon
I can really relate to this song, becasue I have known that feeling before, of being bound to someone that does not appereciate you the way you care for them, and the feeling of not being able to escape from thier web, while being used.
[ 6 ] - Just For by Nickleback
This is song is so me, I am very protective
[ 7 ] - I Stand Alone By Godsmack
I know what is like to feel you are alone, and that you have to face the world.
[ 8 ] - A Thousand Years By Sting
For me this song is very spirtual, and really touches me on a deep level and draws powerful emotions from me, I can really relate to this song.
[ 9 ] - Light Up My Room By Barenaked Ladies
This is an odd little song, but there is just something about it that touches me, and well in addtion to its somewhat surreal nature, it is a for me a touching song about love, and what a person would do to be with the one they love.
[ 10 ] - Defeat You By Smash Mouth
I find this to be an empowering song, it is an energetic song about inner strength and never letting yourself be kept down as well as standing up to fight when you have to.
[ 11 ] - Then The Morning Comes By Smash Mouth
For me this is another great song, about being able to endure, and perhaps with a touch of sarcasm which I can appercaite, and waking up to face each day, which sometimes can be hard to do.
[ 12 ] - Bullet With Butterfly Wings By Smashing Pumpkins
This was my song in highschool it is a great song about rebellion and feeling trapped and wanting to fight back but having nowhere to go.
[ 13 ] - Freak of the World By Puddle of Mud
What can I say, this is like my personal theme song, I am a proud freak
[ 14 ] - No Phone, By Cake
Perhaps this one has a touch to humur to it, but I think it was written for me, needless to say I have a long withstanding phobia of the phone and rather not deal with it at all.
[ 15 ] - Feelin Way Too Damn Good, By Nickleback
This is another song I can relate to on a deep level, in more then one way, for one thing I am currently in a long distance relationship just waiting and wanting to see my baby, and well I know that feeling when things are so good something must go wrong.
[ 16 ] - So Far Away, By Staind
Another song about struggle and putting your mistaks behind you and being born a new person that you can be proud of.
[ 17 ] - Do or Die, By Papa Roach
This is a great srong about finding strength within yourself, and about love and life, and just living for what you want and not letting anything stop you.
[ 18 ] - Unwritten By Natasha Bedingfield
This is certiantly not the kind of song I normaly would listen to, but it speaks to my artistic side, espcially as a writer.
[ 19 ] - Lonely Day, By System of Down
I am sure we have all had days like this, and it is a very touching song for System, unlike what they normaly do, wonderfully song and full of deep emotion.
[ 20 ] -Rock and Roll Queen, By The Subways
This is just so me, I am a little Rock and Roll girl and I am the Rock and Roll Queen for my own true knigt

I'm determined to not repeat artists lest I have 20 Jeff Buckley songs
[ 1 ] - "Lover You Should've Come Over" by Jeff Buckley
Reason: It's just beautiful isn't it? It's painful. It's lovely. It makes me cry and feel and all sorts of things and I love it.
I'm broken down and hungry for your love
With no way to feed it
Where are you tonight?
Child, you know how much I need it.
Too young to hold on
And too old to just break free and run
Sometimes a man gets carried away,
When he feels like he should be having his fun
Much too blind to see the damage he's done
Sometimes a man must awake to find that, really,
He has no-one...
So I'll wait for you... And I'll burn,
Will I ever see your sweet return,
oh, will I ever learn?
Lover, you should've come over
'Cause it's not too late.
[ 2 ] - "Walking On Air" by King Crimson
Reason: The first time I heard this I was sitting in the car at night in a parking lot waiting for my Dad to come out of the supermarket and it was raining so the orange street lights were making these shadows all over the glass and the inside of the car. It's probably the most beautiful song I know
Close your eyes and look at me
I'll be standing by your side
In between the deep blue sea
And the sheltering sky
If we find no words to say
To the rhythm of the waves
Then we'll both surrender there
Walking on air
[ 3 ] - "Creep" by Radiohead
Reason: Beautiful AND Angsty. Damn you Radiohead. If I ever needed an anthem to get me through the social day this would be it
I don't care if it hurts,
I wanna have control
I want a perfect body
I want a perfect soul
I want you to notice
when I'm not around
You're so fucking special
I wish I was special
But I'm a creep
I'm a weirdo
What the hell am I doin' here?
I don't belong here
[ 4 ] - "Deja Vu" by Something For Kate
Reason: Lyric wise it was like he was singing about my life from direct experience, and it's catchy. That helps.
She wants to meet her fate, but travel by free will.
But you can't have both and you can't stand still, still, still.
I'd be the luckiest man in the universe, if cause and effect doesn't get there first.
But she, keeps looking for patterns, and the world just happens.
'Cause baby can't see through, all this matter and makeup and déjà vu.
Yeah we drift here alone, with nothing to do.
Until one of us makes the other one come true.
[ 5 ] - "Gravity" by John Mayer
Reason: It's mellow and sad and hopeful and makes me wanna cry and smile depending on my mood.
Oh gravity, stay the hell away from me
And gravity has taken better men than me (Now how can that be?)
Just keep me where the light is
[ 6 ] - "I Forgot That Love Existed" by Van Morrison
Reason: My mother used to play Van Morrison when I was a kid so I can remember dancing with her to 'Days Like This' ... but I think this song is amazing and I love the riff at the start so very very much
Oh, oh Socrates and Plato
They praised it to the skies.
Anyone who's ever loved
Everyone who's ever tried.
If my heart could do my thinking
And my head begin to feel
I would look upon the world anew
And know what's truly real.
[ 7 ] - "No Children" by the Mountain Goats
Reason: First person I ever loved liked this song and I downloaded it put it onto my mp3 player and went to the city away from my computer or any other source of music. I think I listened to it for so long that I could sing the words while I was sleeping. Not my usual thing... but strangely beautiful still
And I hope when you think of me years down the line
You can't find one good thing to say
And I'd hope that if I found the strength to walk out
You'd stay the hell out of my way
I am drowning
There is no sign of land
You are coming down with me
Hand in unlovable hand
And I hope you die
I hope we both die
[ 8 ] - "Sullen Girl" by Fiona Apple
Reason: Had to do something from Fiona Apple, to me she's the queen of angst and strength and this song is so hopeless and slow and underwater for me
Days like this, I dont know what to do with myself.
All day - and all night.
I wander the halls along the walls and under my breath.
I say to myself.
I need fuel - to take flight -
And theres too much going on.
But its calm under the waves, in the blue of my oblivion.
Under the waves in the blue of my oblivion.
[ 9 ] - "Castles Made Of Sand" by Jimi Hendrix
Reason: Apart from 'Hendrix is God' when my brother started talking to me again after a few years of silence between us we listened to this together because I hadn't listened to it properly before. These days we think of it as one of the ones we want at our funeral.
There was a young girl, whos heart was a frown
cause she was crippled for life,
And she couldnt speak a sound
And she wished and prayed she could stop living,
So she decided to die
She drew her wheelchair to the edge of the shore
And to her legs she smiled you wont hurt me no more
But then a sight shed never seen made her jump and say
Look a golden winged ship is passing my way
And it really didnt have to stop, it just kept on going...
And so castles made of sand slips into the sea, eventually
[ 10 ] - "Sleep Song" by Rooney
Reason: After The Chumscrubber became one of my favourite movies it was fairly inevitable. Riff is excellent. Words are strange but intriguing.
I like to dream
But it scares me to think
That at some point
I'll forget when the dream began
[ 11 ] - "When the Levee Breaks" by Led Zeppelin
Reason: It puts me in a trance and makes me feel a bit bluesy. Both of which I enjoy.
Cryin' won't help you, prayin' won't do you no good,
Now, cryin' won't help you, prayin' won't do you no good,
When the levee breaks, mama, you got to move.
[ 12 ] - "Eleanor Rigby" by The Beatles
Reason: First Beatles song I listened to on repeat because I didn't remember it from pure brainwashing as a child. Can't beat the violin.
Eleanor Rigby died in the church and was buried along with her name
Nobody came
Father McKenzie wiping the dirt from his hands as he walks from the grave
No one was saved
All the lonely people
Where do they all come from?
All the lonely people
Where do they all belong?
[ 13 ] - "Over and Out" by Foo Fighters
Reason: Took me a while to figure out which Foo Fighters song I wanted, because there's a lot that I love to death. Something about this one though...
Cages and alarms
Keeping us from harm
I will be the guard
Hope to rest upon
Everything is done
Nothing left at all
Are you there?
Do you read me?
Are you there?
I don't feel you anymore
[ 14 ] - "Hurt" by Johnny Cash
Nine Inch Nails cover, saddest thing.
I wear this crown of thorns
Upon my liar's chair
Full of broken thoughts
I cannot repair
Beneath the stains of time
The feelings disappear
You are someone else
I am still right here
[ 15 ] - "A Thousand Words" by Savage Garden
When I was a kid I listened to Savage Garden's self titled album over and over again. Lame I know, but this is true. The lyrics I still think are pretty awesome and I quote this song all the time.
Time manipulates your heart
Preconceptions torn apart
Begin to doubt my state of mind
But I wont go down on what I said
I wont retract convictions read
I may perplex but Im not blind
[ 16 ] - "Save Me" by Remy Zero
Reason: Again with the first love thing. I listened to it on a fateful Tuesday on my way to see him.
I feel my wings have broken in your hands
I feel the words unspoken inside
And it pulls me under
I would give you anything you want but oh
You were all I wanted
All my dreams are on the ground
Crawlin' around
Somebody save me
Let your warm hands break right through and
Save me
I don't care how you do it
Just save me
C'mon, I've been waitin for you
[ 17 ] - "Storm (Acoustic)" by Lifehouse
Reason: Again with the water theme. Only got this song a few months ago... But it's one of those songs.
How long have I
been in this storm
So overwhelmed by the ocean's shapeless form
Water's getting harder to tread
With all these waves crashing over my head
[ 18 ] - "Scar Tissue" by Red Hot Chili Peppers
Reason: It's a beautiful song, I love the Chili Peppers, the Frusciante solo makes me close my eyes and sway and it reminds me of road trips with Michelle.
Scar tissue that I wish you saw
Sarcastic mister know it all
Close your eyes and I’ll kiss you ’cause
With the birds I’ll share
With the birds I’ll share
This lonely view
[ 19 ] - "Love Hurts" by Incubus
Reason: Incubus is so melodic and reminds me of Summer for I don't know what reason.
Sometimes when I'm alone I wonder
Is there a spell that I am under
Keeping me from seeing the real thing
Love hurts
But sometimes it's a good hurt
And it feels like I'm alive
Love sings
When it transcends the bad things
Have a heart and try me
'cause without love I won't survive
[ 20 ] - "She Will Be Loved" by Maroon 5
Reason: One of my friends used to love this song and a few months after she moved away she wrote it into a coursework story she wrote about us and it makes me bawl everytime I hear or read it. Terrible
I don’t mind spending everyday
Out on your corner in the pouring rain
Look for the girl with the broken smile
Ask her if she wants to stay awhile
And she will be loved
She will be loved

'Ballerina' – Van Morrison
from long ago and far away, it reminds me of the first woman I loved as an adult. Our lives touched for perhaps less than a year. We had an extremely intense friendship, but we never kissed, never slept together. I knew she liked me as friend. I have never forgotten her. Over a third of a century later with perhaps less than an hour contact in all that time and I find she thought me beautiful, considers me one of the loves of her life. Life seriously sucks at times.
"Allright, well it's getting late
Yes it is, yes it is
And this time I forget to slip into your slumber
The light is on the left side of your head
And I'm standing in your doorway
And I'm mumbling and I can't remember
the last thing that ran through my head."
[2]'Silent Night' – Father Joseph Mohr / Franz Xaver Gruber
first performed Xmas Eve 1818 in a church in Austria, accompanied by guitar. Another one from long ago and far away. My youngest (24 this year) was an absobloody shitty sleeper. I used to get up to him several times most nights until he was about 3 or 4 year old. I used to sing this to him over and over as I walked him round the darkened house, it was the only thing that would get him back to sleep. More a lullaby than ever a carol.
"Silent night, holy night
All is calm, all is bright
Round yon Virgin Mother and Child.
Holy Infant so tender and mild
Sleep in heavenly peace
Sleep in heavenly peace"
[3]'Somewhere Over The Rainbow / What a Wonderful World' : Israel Kamakawiwo'ole
Israel Kamakawiwo'ole – Hawaiian, grossly fat into obesity, a huge joy in life and now dead. Such a beautiful person. Only came across this on YouTube early this year, don't know why but listening to him is just a joy.
"The colours of the rainbow so pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces of people passing by
I see friends shaking hands
Saying, "How do you do?"
They're really saying, I...I love you
I hear babies cry and I watch them grow,
They'll learn much more
Than we'll know
And I think to myself
What a wonderful world world
Someday I'll wish upon a star,
Wake up where the clouds are far behind ... me
Where trouble melts like lemon drops
High above the chimney top that's where you'll find me
Oh somewhere over the rainbow way up high
And the dream that you dare to, ... why, oh why can't I "
[4]'Unchained Melody' – Righteous Brothers
who hasn't hungered for the touch of an absent lover, hasn't feared becoming irrelevant in that person's life? A universal insecurity, a cliche, a hurt fresh and intense each time it's born in us. Not good!
"Oh, my love, my darling
I've hungered for your touch
A long, lonely time.
And time goes by, so slowly
And time can do so much
Are you still mine?
I need your love
I need your love
God speed your love to me."
[5]'Sway' – Dean Martin
the song that makes me wish I could dance like they did 60 odd year ago. Two people responding to micro touch / micro movements with the total focus of a Touching Hands Tai Chi exercise – sex adorned with music whilst upright and fully clothed. Bugger, how come I've wasted so much of my life?
"I can hear the sounds of violins
Long before it begins
Make me thrill as only you know how
Sway me smooth, sway me now
You know how
Sway me smooth, sway me now."
[6]'Would You Lay With Me' – Tanya Tucker
apparently this was originally written as an affirmation of love for wedding vows, later set to music as a song. I've never married, but I'm a sucker for this one ....
"Would you lay with me in a field of stone
If my needs were strong would you lay with me
Should my lips grow dry would you wet them love
In the midnight hour if my lips were dry
...
Will you bathe with me in the stream of life
When the moon is full will you bathe with me
Will you still love me when I'm down and out
In my time of trial will you stand by me"
[7]'4 Over 12 Journey' – Reinhard Flatischler's MegaDrums(?)
Flatischler founded TaKeTiNa, a system of using rhythm, music and voice for personal healing, evolution, spirituality. Don't know anymore than that. Came across this on the net a few weeks ago. Haven't used recreational drugs in damn near 30 year, buggered if this one doesn't make me want to get rat faced on pot and spend an afternoon in front of the fire ignoring the world.
[8]'Misere' (Miserere mei, Deus / Have Mercy on Me, O God) – Gregorio Allegri
a late Renaissance a cappella choral - Psalm 51, probably set to music in the 1630's. Performed in the Sistine Chapel during Matins on Wednesdays and Fridays of Holy Week. At some stage the Vatican banned the transcribing and performing of this work except as above. To do so risked excommunication, no small threat in those days. Until a 14 year old Mozart attended a performance and went away to write it from memory, unrepentant little child prodigy that he was. "The Miserere is written for two choirs, one of five and one of four voices. One of the choirs sings a simple version of the original Miserere chant; the other, spatially separated, sings an ornamented "commentary" on this. Many have cited this work as an example of the stile antico or proma practica. However, its constant use of the the dominant seventh chord and its emphasis on polychoral techniques echniques certainly put it out of the range of prima pratica. A more accurate comparison would be to the works of Giovanni Gabrieli."
Is any of the above at all true? How should I know? I stole it all from a Wiki. Pretty much every word of it. But I do know that this music touched me so deeply for at least 10 or 12 years before I found out what it was. For me it is one of the most beautiful works where voices are used as instruments that I know of in western music.
"Quoniam si voluisses sacrificium, dedissem utique:
holocaustis non delectaberis.
Sacrificium Deo spiritus contribulatus:
cor contritum, et humiliatum, Deus, non despicies."
"For thou desirest not sacrifice, else would I give it:
thou delightest not in burnt offering.
The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit:
a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise."
[9]'The Pale Horse and His Rider' – Hank and Audrey Williams
Hank Williams's wife Audrey seems to have copped a lot of flack over the decades - pushy, low talent, hurtful to the man. It's fairly easy to judge the shortcomings of a person from outside a relationship, even easier and more likely to get it wrong. In this song he knows she can't sing for shite, but he drops his voice in on hers to make the whole resonate in some strange way, giving it an integrity independent of talent. And he does it with love, or so it seems to me. The rest of the world can sod off with it's judgemental snarking far as I'm concerned.
"When that trumpet sounds on the sinners below
Not even the angels in heaven will know
Then's when you'll wish you had jesus nigh
When the pale horse and his rider goes by."
[10]'Jewels' – Alison Krauss and Suzanne Cox
one for all the infants born innocent, damaged as children by ugly bastards and who end up living as bravely as broken people can, long as they can. This is how I hear this song - not a lot more to say!
"He will gather, He will gather
The gems for His kingdom
All the pure ones, all the bright ones
His loved and His own.
Like the stars of the morning
His bright crown adorning
They will shine in their beauty
Bright gems for his crown.
Little children, little children
O love their Redeemer
All the jewels, precious jewels
His loved and His own."
[11]I Was Only Nineteen – Redgum
Six or so weeks ago we had Anzac Day in Australia. And I remembered when I was young, the Vietnam War was still underway. An unpopular conflict with many here, we used to demonstrate against it. As part of that protest we villified the soldiers we sent to fight it, turned our backs to them when they returned home. From a fuck awful war they came home to a fuck awful reception from society. Drug and alcohol abuse, domestic violence, depression, psychosis, cancer, suicide these are all far more common amongst Vietnam Vets than the rest of us. And we turned our backs to them for nigh on 2 decades. To this day I am still ashamed of this
"A four week operation when each step could mean your last one on two legs
It was a war within yourself.
But you wouldn't let your mates down till they had you dusted off
So you closed your eyes and thought about something else.
Then someone yelled out "Contact!" and the bloke behind me swore
We hooked in there for hours, then a Godalmighty roar
Frankie kicked a mine the day that mankind kicked the moon,
God help me, he was going home in June.
I can still see Frankie, drinking tinnies in the Grand Hotel
On a thirty-six hour rec leave in Vung Tau
And I can still hear Frankie, lying screaming in the jungle
Till the morphine came and killed the bloody row.
And the Anzac legends didn't mention mud and blood and tears
And the stories that my father told me never seemed quite real.
I caught some pieces in my back that I didn't even feel
God help me, I was only nineteen.
And can you tell me, doctor, why I still can't get to sleep?
And why the Channel Seven chopper chills me to my feet?
And what's this rash that comes and goes, can you tell me what it means?
God help me, I was only nineteen."
[12]And The Band Played Waltzing Mathilda – Eric Bogle
it's a peculiarity of us Aussies that perhaps the most important day we celebrate as a nation is Anzac day. For what we celebrate is the first defeat we suffered in the first war we fought as a young independent nation. Before this we fought as a British colony, we were British, not Australian. Sent over to the Dardinelles to steal what was to become modern Turkey from the Turks, we thought we'd easily kick their cowardly arses off their own lands. But the Turks fought with courage and determination, kicking our sorry arses back into the water. Mustafa Kemal Atatürk was a Turkish military commander during that campaign, he went on to become the leader of the modern Turkish nation. In an act of extraordinary generosity (considering we invaded their country, slaughtered near 100,000 of their people and wounded a quarter of a million more) he later wrote of us ...
"Those heroes that shed their blood and lost their lives… you are now lying in the soil of a friendly country. Therefore rest in peace. There is no difference between the Johnnies and the Mehmets where they lie side by side here in this country of ours… You the mothers who sent their sons from far away countries, wipe away your tears. Your sons are now lying in our bosom and are in peace. Having lost their lives on this land they have become our sons as well. "
"And how well I remember that terrible day,
How our blood stained the sand and the water.
And of how in that hell that they called Suvla Bay
We were butchered like lambs at the slaughter.
Johnny Turk he was waiting, he primed himself well.
He showered us with bullets, and he rained us with shell,
And in five minutes flat, he'd blown us all to hell,
Nearly blew us back home to Australia.
But the band played Waltzing Matilda,
When we stopped to bury our slain,
We buried ours, and the Turks buried theirs,
Then we started all over again.
And those that were left, well we tried to survive
In that mad world of blood, death and fire.
And for ten weary weeks I kept myself alive
Though around me the corpses piled higher.
Then a big Turkish shell knocked me arse over head
And when I woke up in me hospital bed
And saw what it had done, well I wished I was dead.
Never knew there was worse things than dying.
For I'll go no more Waltzing Matilda,
All around the green bush far and free
To hump tent and pegs, a man needs both legs,
No more waltzing Matilda for me.
So they gathered the crippled, the wounded, and maimed,
And they shipped us back home to Australia.
The legless, the armless, the blind and insane,
Those proud wounded heroes of Suvla.
And as our ship pulled into Circular Quay
I looked at the place where me legs used to be
And thanked Christ there was no body waiting for me
To grieve, to mourn and to pity.
But the Band played Waltzing Matilda
As they carried us down the gangway,
But nobody cheered, they just stood and stared,
Then they turned all their faces away."
[13]Fairy Tale Of New York – The Pogues
a most improbable love story, again reinforcing my belief that it is usually impossible to truly judge a relationship from outside of it. This song contains some of my alltime favourite song lyrics. It's Xmas - he's just got out of the drunk tank in goal, she's in a hospital bed because of drug abuse ...
"You're a bum
You're a punk.
You're an old slut on junk
Lying there almost dead on a drip in that bed.
You scumbag, you maggot
You cheap lousy faggot
Happy Christmas your arse
I pray God it's our last.
....
I could have been someone.
Well so could anyone
You took my dreams from me
When I first found you.
I kept them with me babe
I put them with my own
Can't make it all alone
I've built my dreams around you."
[14]Pachelbel: Canon in D – Academy of St. Martin-In-The-Fields
a cliche, but it helped teach me that cliches are just that for a reason. And an excellent teaser for Vivaldi, Bach, Handel and of course the oh so bloody fantastic Albinoni. It sort of embaresses me to admit it, but the Baroque is the perfect accompanyment to a druggy misspent youth. Or at least to it's quieter moments. I think this is in very large part due (for me) to the background bass notes. I haven't a clue what makes them, sometimes I'm convinced it's organ, other times I think it must be some instrument I'm totally unfamiliar with - would a Bassoon go this low? Buggered if I know.
[15]Hurt – Johnny Cash
I prefer this version to the the Nine Inch Nails original – probably cos I'm so very old! (laughing)))) ... but only just.
"I hurt myself today
To see if I still feel
I focus on the pain
The only thing that's real
The needle tears a hole
The old familiar sting
Try to kill it all away
But I remember everything
What have I become
My sweetest friend
Everyone I know goes away
In the end
And you could have it all
My empire of dirt
But I will let you down
I will make you hurt"
[16]Piano Concerto No5 in E-flat Major – Beethoven
many years ago I moved with my family to Uralla, the town just south of Armidale in the New England Tablelands. I was only there a couple of months when my relationship imploded. My ex took the kids and fled back to Sydney. Not long after they left a huge storm hit one night. I got hardly any sleep because the wind actually howled and shook the house all night. When the early morning arrived I was really surprised to see perfectly clear skies and a sunrise over a silent, white world. We'd had an 8 inch dump of snow. This was my first snow in over 30 year and the thing that surprised me was how peaceful the world can be after snowfall. The middle movement of this concerto, the Adagio, perfectly mirrors waking to this peaceful world. It will always remind me of this. Sadly, the other thing I remember from that morning is that it doesn't matter how special a life event is, if you have no-one there to share it with, it's only so much shite. I so missed my family that morning, and the adagio always reminds me of this overwhelming sense of loss as well. Fantastic piece of music though.
[17]Carmen: La Tabacalera – Carlos Suara
one of Carlos Saura's flamenco films. I'm not sure what it is the women are singing at each other, I assume it's somewhat insulting though. These women strut their way through flamenco with serious sexual grunt, nowhere more so than in this rehearsal of the Tobacco Factory scene. Every time I see this movie I ask God to make nice to me – to let me come back in my next life as a Spaniard ..... please?
[18]Bacarisse Concerto for Guitar and Orchestra in A-minor – Joaquin Rodrigo
it was a tossup between this and Rodrigo's 'Concerto De Aranjuez for Guitar and Orchestra'. This won, despite an overall preference for the 'Concerto De Aranjuez ....' mainly because of the Bacarisse's second movement – Romanza (Andante), which always strikes me as a tad cinemagraphic. I'm sure this crops up in one of my favourite films, just can't seem to remember which one.
[19]Love Hurts – Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris
there have been many versions of this song since The Everly Brothers did it. This has ended up being my favourite. Beattie was born 16 odd month ago,and my son separated from her Mum shortly afterwards. Despite trying to stay aloof from their hurts I eventually got caught up in it, and ended up getting semi cut out of the Grand Dad loop. Despite her living only a couple of towns away I've seen her perhaps 3 times this year, for a few hours at a time. Love fucking hurts for sure!
"You're young I know but even so
I know a thing or two I've learned from you
I've really learned a lot, really learned a lot
Love is like a flame, burns you when it's hot
Love hurts, mmm..mmm, love hurts."
[20]Coming (Deep Edit) – Jimmy Somerville (Orlando Soundtrack)
"I am coming! I am coming!
Here I am!
I am coming! I am coming!
Here I am!
I am coming! I am coming!
Here I am!
Neither a woman,
nor a man
We are joined, we are one
With the human face
We are joined, we are one
With the human face
I am on earth
And I am in outer space
I'm being born ...
I am dying
At last,
At last I am free!
At last I am free!
At last I am free!

I'm surprised that this thread has come to a standstill, coz I love lists. Here are my current top 20:
Amy Macdonald- Run (spirited and life-affirming)
Arcade Fire- Black Mirror (a great opener in concert)
babybird- You're gorgeous (tantalising and ambiguous)
Beatles-Eleanor Rigby (Macca at his concise best)
Beth Gibbons & Rustin Man- Mysteries (spine-tinglingly beautiful)
Springsteen's Jungleland (epic heartfelt narrative, Dylanesque but much better)
Coldplay- Fix You
The Corrs -Time enough for Tears (gorgeous-everything else of theirs is so bland)
Bowie- China Girl (a rare heartfelt song from the Thin White Duke)
Elvis Costello- ,Pump it up ( an out and out belting rocker)
Foo Fighters- All my life (pure guitar rock excitement)
Guillemots- Little Bear (beautiful)
Jack Penate- When we die (a companion piece to Eleanor Rigby, pure poetry)
Lennon- Working Class Hero (simple genius from the master)
Led Zepellin- Whole lotta Love (still stunning after 40 years)
Marvin Gaye- Inner City Blues ( brilliant and topical - where did black music lose its way?)
Massive Attack- Teardrop (always gorgeous)
Morrissey- Dear God, please help me
Myslovitz -Wieza Melancolii (Polish Radiohead, The Tower of Melancholy, worth investigating)
Nirvana- All Apologies (we lost a genius in Cobain)
Is that 20? If not, one more-
Pink Floyd's majestic Us and Them

My tastes have changed quite a bit since my last playlist so here is my updated one...
1• Therapy by All Time Low
Alex Gaskarth wrote this song for his brother who committed suicide. I love ATL.. the first time I heard this song I cried, you can feel the emotions in his voice.
2• Everything is Alright by Motion City Soundtrack
My friend introduced me to this song. It's her "happy" song. I get what she means. When you put it on you just wanna pull your hair out of that bobble and whip it while jumping on the bed.
3• My Immortal by Evenescence
Her voice is beautiful and so is the song. I love it.
4• Jasey Rae by All Time Low
I love listening to this song when it's raining. The acoustic version is much better than the original in my opinion.
5• Dirty Little Secret by All American Rejects
I. Love. It. I don't know my reasoning behind it. It makes me happy:)
6• Hear You Me by Jimmy Eats World
This song was at the end of A Cinderella Story, and I really like it.
7• Price Tag by Jessie J
Cheesy pop<3
8• Eyes Wide Shut by JLS ft. Tinie Tempah
Every time this song comes on, I sit back and my insides melt. It's such an amazing song.
9• Just A Dream by Nelly
Such a beautiful voice.. The guitar intro is amazing.
10• Good Riddance by Greenday
So short and underrated:'( Its a great song.
11• Born This Way by Lady Gaga
OMG, you do NOT wanna see me dancing to this song. So embarassing!;) This song is like an updated but better version of Vogue by Madonna and it's a great dance track.
12• Fireworks by You Me At Six
Lovelovelove it<3 I love his voice.
I can't think of anymore. There are so many songs that I like though. So I'm gonna leave my playlist at 12.
