hey everyone, i'm writing a book for my friend for when she goes away to uni of loads of poems, quotes and song/lyrics. the title is

"WORDS...to understand, appreciate and live by
A collection of poems, quotes and song, some about friendship, some about love and some just about life in general"

i was wondering if any of you could give me some ideas of what i can put in it. (if the writing is about love i'd really prefer it not to be directed at the reader) i've come up with a few ideas but need quite a lot more in order to fill a book and as you can imagine putting 'poems' into google throws up quite a few pages!

to give you an idea of the kind of things i'm after some of the stuff i've come up with are:

"your dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman and loose enough to show you're a lady"

"what makes you different makes you beautiful"

the chorus of 'us against the world' - westlife

'don't laugh at me' - mark wills

'standing out in a crowd' - trisha yearwood

chorus 'count on me' - whitney houston

chorus 'wind beneath my wings' - bette midler

the poem 'warning - jenny joseph

poem 'mother o mother'

poem 'do not stand at my grave and weep'

poem, can't remember what it's called but starts 'stop all the clocks'

any help you can give me would be much appreciated. they can be about anything or have any tone to them. or if anyone could recommend somewhere else that i could look for stuff. thanks in advance to anyone who replies. charlie xxxx p.s. i'm posting this in several of the forums so you only need to reply in one of them!

If it's meaningful songs your talking about there's,

'She's the one' by Robbie Williams

'There she goes' by The La's

'Back for good' by Take That

'Million love songs' by Take That

'Can't take my eyes of you' by Franky Vallie

'Everybody hurts' by REM

'Eternity' by Robbie Williams

'Nobodies Diary' by Yazoo

'Your Gorgeous' by Baby Bird

'Close to me' by The Cure

'Always' by Erasure

'Oh you pretty things' by David Bowie

'Changes' by David Bowie

'Sorrow' by David Bowie

'Hero's' by David Bowie

'I'm just a gigolo' by David Lee Roth (quite lite and amusing)

'She' by Elvis Costello

'Together in electric dreams' by The Human League (quite apt if you keep in contact)

and lastly 'Just when I needed you most' by Dolly Parton

Hope this helps.
