Hi everyone, I'm doing something for a puzzle/project that was given to me and it is related to poetry. I am really hoping you guys don't mind giving me a helping hand, as I am kind of at a loss.

The hint that was given to me is that the following poem should be divided by iambic pentameter. I did research on this but still have trouble figuring out which words/syllables are stressed or nonstressed, etc... or if it follows the typical form or is some sort of weird form. Hell, the original writer could have messed up as well for all I know...

The poem is as follows:

"For he devours the essence of the living,
For whoever, he sends the gifts of hellfire,
For his foes must tremble, quaking in fear,
For he cannot be beguiled by darkness,
For he expels unnamed wraiths to vanquish,
So says the lore... only this and nothing more."

I would really, really appreciate any help given. Thank you very much!!!

I assume this is related to this thread http://www.playdota.com/forums/553643-page21/riddle-beta-key-promo/

I haven't read through it all to get an idea what is going on, but I have had a look at how I would put the stresses in the above poem (though others might well disagree) from my results the only line that is in Iambic Pentameter is the first line

For HE deVOURS the ESsence OF the LIVing
For whoEVer he SENDS the GIFTS of HELLfire
for his FOES must TREMble, QUAKing in FEAR
for he CANnot BE beGUILED by DARKness
for he exPELS unNAMED WRAITHS to VANquish
so SAYS the LORE..ONly THIS and NOTHing MORE

It certainly isn't a typical poetical form.

Yes, it is for that particular puzzle/contest. However I do appreciate your help and will continue attempting to crack this thing.

I already told the guy who wrote it that his poem is in a rather imperfect form or... not of the traditional form.

Because of that we have many different possible solutions, in my opinion, and that makes it rather impossible to pinpoint for the "real" answer.

Cheers.

Would 4,4,4,4 mean anything verses 2-4 each start with 'for' and they are all unstressed which is partially responsible for the broken IP. That would seem a little simple though looking at the hoops he has made people jump through for the first two challenges.
