I wasn't really sure where to put this, so I just put it here. Dreams are kind of philosophical, right?
Well, whatever.
So, my question iiiiiiiiiis...
What did YOU dream about last night? Treat this thread as a kind of dream journal for you. You never know what hidden messages are trying to get through to you.
You never know, lol. Yeeeeeeah, so SHOOT!xxxx

So, I'll start us off...
I had a really weird dream (as always, lol). Some evil guy cast a spell on my mum so that she'd forget us (her daughters) and she only remembered that my elder sister was her daughter. Then I tried to get her to remember me, but she thought I was a freak and started to hate me.
I'm not really sure what it means, I can't even remember the whole dream.

when does a dream slip over the edge and into a nightmare ?

Hmm good question, and not one I know the answer to!

I would not like to even guess at what message you dream is trying to give you, perhaps you are anxious about something at the moment?

Maybe... I can't really think of anything I'm anxious abou off the top of my head:)
What did you dream about?

my usual problem with dreams is they are often forgotten with the dawning of each day. perhaps it is best that way, saves having to dwell on any hidden messages.
interestingly I rarely have nightmares, those I do have seem to centre on days at school, having tests/exams without any preparation, or the topic being tested has never been taught (bit like an episode of Buffy - Vampire Slayer ...)

Haha, I have dreams like that too! I've had loads of dreams where I'm at school and stuff:)

Yes - but I suspect you are much closer to school age than I .... :sniggers:

I am:)
I had a dream (nightmare) recently about my city on fire with explosions and being watched from the sky. It really shook me at the time because I was thinking throughout the dream and I was full of adrenaline, as if in a war zone. I woke up after killing a man in uniform, still feeling the pressure as if underwater.
Weirdest thing was then I switched on the news and the riots started.

I just had a nightmare that has my awake at 4 in the morning.
I don't wanna go back to my nightmare. Me, my dad and my sisters were at mcdonalds somewhere. They were all sat down while I was in the queue, so I was the only one who heard it. The person behind the till said to the first person in the queue "whoa, you have killer breath! Do you know what ADH1 is? I think you may have it". Then the whole restaurant went mad. Everyone had to get outside while they investigated.*
Then they came to the conclusion that it wasn't the person they thought who had the aids disease. It was a girl with long brown eyes.*
Me.*
I felt so scared in my dream. That's why I don't want to go back.*

I know it might not seem that scary, but I was scared. Even though I just googled it and ADH1 has something to do with alcohol d-something or other. Tbh I'm surprised it even exists. What surprised me even more though was that ADH is a disease, but not an aids disease. ARGH!

Not sure what you mean by, "dreams are philosophical." Most of the shrinks I've ever spoken to on the topic would probably tend to agree with the assertion that dreams are generated in the subconscious by something you did or thought about earlier that day (or a short time preceding).
At any rate, I thought I'd offer up the following photo of a painting I did (technique known as pointalism or pontification). I'm not proficient at turning an original artwork into a .jpg file. The following was taken with a camera and the flash leaves a lot of glare, I'm afraid. The painting is entitled "Ambush" and it represents the moment in a dream that the dreamer suddenly realized a nightmare is about to begin. (Ouch! Sorry about the crippled tense.)
This originated from a true experience, if dreams might be considered experiences.:Heristical:

Even though this is a crappy copy, if you cannot see why I called this "Ambush" please do not bother applying to be my point man.

Wow, that painting is AMAZING! I can kind of see why you called it ambush. On the one hand, it's like a perfect scene, but you can tell something might not be right from the shadows. But can you explain it a little more? I'm not really that good at analysing artwork:P anyway, how long did it take?

YoungLady, you can be my pointman anytime. It is indeed the shadows. You can see one from the dude in the conical hat, packing the AK-47 behind the planter?????
Anyway, ...just before things go aaaaalllll wrong.

Haha, no, I can't see a "dude in a conical hat". As I said before, the painting is great!

What I thought.
A point-man during my war would not always "see" what made him wary in situations. We would have said that they just felt "hinky." In this case, you noticed that the shadows were off. There is extra shadow in the scene that comes, in my mind, from a Viet Cong soldier, dressed in black silk, a woven conical hat (or an NVA pith helmet, mayhap?), and Ho Chi Minh sandals, carrying a Chinese-manufactured, Russian-designed assault rifle. (As the artist I can see around these corners, yes?)

From My Journal…
2-22-11
I woke up early today with a bad dream. It was 3:30. I've been sleeping a little better the last two nights but I still haven't made it through the night. The dream was about my dog Lance. I was where we used to tie him at my parents house and he was growling and mad at me. He was on top of me and I thought that I could not get away. He wanted to keep me there. I've felt guilty in my adult years about how I treated that dog. Lance was pretty much neglected. I almost never visited with him. I just gave him food and water and a quick pat on the head. He spent his whole life tied to that tree It in all sorts of weather. It must have been a lonely life. I feel awful about that. I don't know why I was thinking about it last night but I couldn't get back to sleep after that. It kinda felt to me like I was visited by his ghost… as dumb as that sounds, it really shook me up.

Them long and sleepless nights can bring your muse to come screaming in for a landing, but it's not always pleasant. ?

It's weird how the dreams we can remember most are the ones we want to forget.

With the proper pharmacopeia and the willingness to self-medicate, all dreams can be safely forgotten. :guiness:
Erm... I know that sounds like I'm being facetious, but I'm not (well, mostly not) .
