Hi all,
let's try this then. Actually I just came across this forum as I was looking for inspiration on different measures. The reasons I write poetry at the moment are embarrassingly mundane compared to other people here. I am playing a bard in a RPG and thought I might as well try and write my own stuff about our adventures. So I will post my first shot in the fantasy forum. I have in the past enjoyed writing children's rhymes. However, since English is not my first language I always did that in German. It is quite hard to write poetry in a language that is not your own I found! So please be gentle =)

anyway, I will have to go through some stuff here before I'll feel competent enough to critique anyone else's work, but I'll try.

Welcome! I applaud your bravery in writing poetry in another language. If you feel uncomfortable critiquing other poeple's writing you can always post impressions of works you find more difficult and surreal to see if you are on the same page as the author.

At any rate welcome, and I look forward to reading some of your works.

Welcome! Hopefully we can help you out with that, but more importantly hope you have fun here. xx

Hi and welcome! I do understand what you mean about writing poetry in another language. Several times I have tried to write poetry in Japanese and failed dismally. Hope to see you around though, and I do look forward to reading your work anyway, even if English is not your first language. =)
