"I have shared very little of my Poetry with my family and friends yet I love them dearly and know and trust that they love me too, I am secure with them . But I cannot share this side of me"
i share none, they have no idea i write
dunno why this and it's not something i'm comfortable with ...
it just sort of evolved this way

I share everything with my wife, most everything with a mutual friend of many years, and some with other close relatives. The majority of my friends and acquaintances don't know and probably don't care. Some know and still don't care. Poetry is just not for everyone.
I found poetry only a year ago, neither having written nor even read much poetry before that time. It was a game at first until I found I could say things in poetry I could say nowhere else. And I could say it to understanding strangers and they could hear what I needed to get out of me. I could talk about the unhappiness of my childhood that even my family didn't knew about. And I could write about the three of my children who died many years ago. I had never been able to cry over them, till I wrote it down.
Yes, we do reveal our souls to each other on this forum. I used to use another forum on which no one seemed to care and which I soon found to be of no use to me. Does that mean that I USE this forum, yes, am I using those who are reading these words, yes, but I'll be here too when you need to use me as well.
Enough said. Thank you all. Thank you my friends. Larry

Hider, Thanks for starting this thread 'on the back of' my poem; I am flattered :)
I now have no qualm about exposing my inner feelings and will share if they are interested. My ex wife was not, but an ex g/f was and we would read poetry to each other in bed - very romantic ;)
My middle and youngest daughters have memorised two of my poems, which I'd written for young people, and they recite them to their classmates :) However, they are not that keen to hear my other poems.
My middle one, 13, is a member of this forum (YoungLady) so she has access to all my non-adult posts (including my visitor messages!) and she does read some of them
My eldest simply tells us to shut up if we say anything remotely poetic :p
