Should there be, or not? personally, I think that there shouldnt be, because then once the people get out, they would light fires again. Also, shouldn't the key lie in prevention? most arsonists nowadays are young people; in Beijing, two teenagers lit fire to an internet cafe. (link to the article here) (http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2002/06/21/1023864490476.html)
Also, several bushfires that were started here were started by teenagers and people in their twenties. So... what do you guys think?

The key issue to address is WHY would a person start a bushfire.
Arsonism (on a one property scale) is usually targetting someone you dislike, bushfires affect thousands.. why would someone do that?
If we could work out why they did it it would be easier to prevent
I agree. Why is important.
Was it an accident? Well then send them to an education class of the damage and affects or such carelessness.
Was it intentional? Well if they are mentally ill send them to a pyschologist and find out why they do it and get them treatment. If they are knowing committing a criminal act send them to see a judge and either pay fines or some jail time.

I personally would kick them several times until they bleed from an oriphis. Sorry I hate people that destroy nature!!! But yah! They should be made to replenish all the soil and replant vegetation, Then pay a fine, Then have community service looking after and maintaining it for the rest of their lives! Or just kick them.... x
I think they should be taken to all the families / communities who have been devestated by what they have done and made to listen to how its affected their lives and what they have lost and then they the families /communities should be able to choose what punishment they get.

i agree with the first bit but not the second. people can be spiteful when they are hurting. it would get abused.

I find your comment rather humoring, you threaten to kick and hurt people for destroying nature - forgetting that they themselves are a part of nature. We breathe the same air as the animals in the forests - I mean, proper repercussions for arson is 100% necessary however corporal punishment is a step too far. (I understand you're probably joking, just point out the humor in your post). I agree community service should be mandatory - however life? That completely takes away ones freedom, and that is unfair. I've done some stupid things while i was young, (never setting fire however) - but if I had to pay for it the rest of my life I'd go nuts.
