Maryd.
20-06-2010, 05:00 PM
Throw that politics in the trash and move on, sweetie.
Henry P
20-06-2010, 05:06 PM
Someone won't let me
Maryd.
20-06-2010, 05:07 PM
Ah crazy people...
Hold a grudge or settle quickly?
Henry P
20-06-2010, 05:10 PM
Settle quickly, unless the hurt is deep or caused with malice or coldness
Maryd.
20-06-2010, 05:14 PM
Yes...
Eye colours: Blue or green?
Henry P
20-06-2010, 05:15 PM
Green, I think. Blue can be cold
Maryd.
20-06-2010, 05:25 PM
Yes green is lovely.
Lips: Thin and small or full and big?
Henry P
20-06-2010, 05:26 PM
I like full and quite big. Otherwise you look like something on a fish stall
Maryd.
20-06-2010, 05:32 PM
Hahahaha...
You are so funny today, sir.
Henry P
20-06-2010, 05:34 PM
Joined up handwriting or printed?
Maryd.
20-06-2010, 05:39 PM
I find joined handwriting hard to read.
Henry P
20-06-2010, 05:40 PM
It's a little slower to write, though
Maryd.
20-06-2010, 05:50 PM
Writing in captials... Lots of people do it.
Henry P
20-06-2010, 05:52 PM
That's slower still
Maryd.
20-06-2010, 05:58 PM
I know, but you know how many children write that way. I worked with a year 5 student that did half capitals and half normal letters... Really weird habit to get into. Funny how his teachers in the past never picked it up. I had a terrible time convincing him to change.
Henry P
20-06-2010, 05:59 PM
It's got to be tackled early on
Maryd.
20-06-2010, 06:08 PM
Yes grade 5 is 10 or 11. That is far too late.
Henry P
20-06-2010, 06:09 PM
Probably yes. It has to become automatic before then
Maryd.
20-06-2010, 06:20 PM
I must admit though it was this child who got me onto reading about Nelson Mandella's life. He was mesmerized by him and he kept talking to me about him and before long, I became hooked.
Henry P
20-06-2010, 06:20 PM
On Mandela? I read his book too
Maryd.
20-06-2010, 06:33 PM
What a great leader.
Henry P
20-06-2010, 06:35 PM
A great man, full of forgiveness and benevolence
Maryd.
20-06-2010, 06:41 PM
I don't know if there will be anyone in the world that will measure up.
Funny how one little boy, got me hooked on this great man.
I was there to help him. But he helped me. To understand this great leader.
The youung boy was Chinese.
Henry P
20-06-2010, 06:44 PM
Everywhere is multi-cultural now. I like orientals
Maryd.
20-06-2010, 11:56 PM
Henry... Australia is so multicultural. In our area we say the words... "Spot the Aussie"
Henry P
21-06-2010, 12:31 AM
In Bradford I feel like a spot on a domino
Maryd.
21-06-2010, 01:47 AM

Henry P
21-06-2010, 04:43 PM

Henry P
22-06-2010, 12:57 AM

Maryd.
22-06-2010, 01:01 AM
Ice cream or cake?
Henry P
22-06-2010, 01:05 AM
why not both together?
Maryd.
22-06-2010, 01:08 AM
Hey, I won't argue with that.
Henry P
22-06-2010, 12:50 PM

Maryd.
22-06-2010, 12:53 PM

Henry P
22-06-2010, 11:32 PM
Italy is even better
Maryd.
22-06-2010, 11:36 PM
Well we are definitely doing Italy next year. Italy, England, Cyprus, Greece and maybe France. (That is if we get a good sale on the property)
Henry P
22-06-2010, 11:37 PM
that'll cost you, my dear
Maryd.
22-06-2010, 11:47 PM
Well we've done our figures, if the house sells for the minimum of what we are asking for then we can just afford it. If it does really well, we'll then we can definitely be able to afford it.
Henry P
22-06-2010, 11:48 PM
good for you. all the work will have been worth it
Maryd.
23-06-2010, 12:02 AM
Yes, considering I am totally and physically wrecked right now. I remember after the last bit of work I did, I had a shower and just cried from the pain, my back was hurting my legs were smothered in bruises from the ladder. My hands were all dried out from the paint and constantly cleaning the brushes and buckets and my nails, were split and short. I don't like to have short nails. Golly am I whinging?
Henry P
23-06-2010, 12:54 AM
whinge away, my dear
Maryd.
23-06-2010, 01:10 AM
Thansk dear, but it depresses me to whinge... I'd rather have fun.
Champagne or wine?
Henry P
23-06-2010, 01:31 AM
It depends on the occasion, but I prefer good wine, I think
Maryd.
23-06-2010, 01:49 AM
Yes. I'm not really into champagne.
I know you don't dance, but just out of curiosity if you did, would you prefer slow dancing or rock'n'roll?
Henry P
23-06-2010, 09:56 AM
slow.
Maryd.
23-06-2010, 01:00 PM
If you were a criminal what do you think you would be capable of: Murder or identity theft
Henry P
25-06-2010, 11:28 AM
Neither, but I'd be capable of stealing, I think
Maryd.
25-06-2010, 02:00 PM
Red wine or white?
Henry P
25-06-2010, 02:02 PM
Good red, but good white comes cheaper. Same?
Maryd.
25-06-2010, 02:19 PM
Sweet red... I am having Brown Brothers red sweet. Yum.
Henry P
25-06-2010, 04:39 PM
Is that an Aussie wine?
Maryd.
25-06-2010, 05:07 PM
Yes, my love.
Henry P
25-06-2010, 05:10 PM

Henry P
27-06-2010, 10:27 AM
romantic birthday
Same?
Maryd.
27-06-2010, 11:52 AM
If there is someone romantic to share it with then, romantic otherwise a raging party would be better.
Henry P
27-06-2010, 03:09 PM
I'm getting old for raving, i think
Maryd.
27-06-2010, 03:18 PM
Ok then you stick to the romantic kind.
Henry P
27-06-2010, 09:27 PM
I will, my dear
Maryd.
27-06-2010, 11:22 PM

Henry P
28-06-2010, 08:29 AM
Sell a second property
Maryd.
28-06-2010, 09:23 AM

Henry P
28-06-2010, 11:11 AM
Stay and listen, or what sort of friend am I?
Maryd.
28-06-2010, 12:07 PM

They both sound hard to me.
Learn a language: Greek or Russian?
Henry P

Maryd.
29-06-2010, 01:02 AM
German or Croatian?
Henry P
29-06-2010, 01:07 AM

Maryd.
29-06-2010, 01:09 AM
How unusual for you to know German?
Henry P
29-06-2010, 01:13 AM
Not really. I did French, German and Latin at school
Maryd.
29-06-2010, 01:17 AM

Sweedish or Arabic?
Henry P
29-06-2010, 01:31 AM

Maryd.
29-06-2010, 01:37 AM
American or English?
Henry P
29-06-2010, 01:39 AM
English sounds classier
Maryd.
29-06-2010, 01:42 AM
Oh yes, I agree with you 100%. It' so elegant.
Henry P
29-06-2010, 01:45 AM
unless it's the Birmingham version
Maryd.
29-06-2010, 01:51 AM
Really. Is it vulgar?
Henry P
29-06-2010, 01:55 AM
Very "common" and regarded as the lowest in status in the UK
Maryd.
29-06-2010, 01:58 AM
To be honest with you I find Aussie slang quite common and a tad vulgar.
Henry P
29-06-2010, 10:34 AM
I agree, but many Aussies' accent is barely noticeable and quite attractive
Maryd.
29-06-2010, 01:55 PM
Not the real slang. You wouldn't understand it, trust me. I was born here and I struggle to understand.
Henry P
29-06-2010, 06:59 PM
Really.
Give an example of impenetrable Oz talk
Maryd.
30-06-2010, 01:09 AM
Golly, I don't know if I can HP
Henry P
30-06-2010, 01:31 AM
Shall I do some Yorkshire talk?
Maryd.
30-06-2010, 01:33 AM
Please do.
Henry P
30-06-2010, 01:44 AM
Where hast tha bin since I saw thee
on Ilkley Mooor baht at?
Maryd.
30-06-2010, 01:50 AM
What? I am in fits here. I got the first part alright, but what is
on Ilkley Mooor baht at?
Henry P
30-06-2010, 01:52 AM
Ilkley Moor is a hilltop, baht at = without a hat
It's a famous Yorkshire song
Maryd.
30-06-2010, 01:59 AM
So cute.
I just realise how un-Australian I am... I am trying to think of something Aussie, but I am stumped. (I wonder if that's an Aussie saying)
Henry P
30-06-2010, 08:48 AM
do you have an egg nishner?
Maryd.
30-06-2010, 09:04 AM
What's an egg nishner?
Henry P
30-06-2010, 09:33 AM
An Australian air conditioner
geddit?
Maryd.
30-06-2010, 10:01 AM
Weee, that was so funny. Where did you come up with that one?
Are you sure you are not an Aussie?
Hahahahaha
Henry P
01-07-2010, 12:10 AM
In some book I read. I also remember banana bender
Maryd.
01-07-2010, 12:14 AM
Ok, you're going to have to elaborate on that one.
Henry P
01-07-2010, 12:30 AM
It's someone from Queensland
Maryd.
01-07-2010, 12:39 AM
You see, I know nothing about my country... I live such a shallow life.
Henry P
01-07-2010, 12:40 AM
Don't do yourself down, my dear
Maryd.
01-07-2010, 12:59 AM
Yes, but you are English and know more about it than I do...
I need to get out more.
Henry P
01-07-2010, 01:01 AM
I don't go out ,much
Maryd.
01-07-2010, 01:13 AM
No, you have more knowledge about life
Henry P
01-07-2010, 01:14 AM
because I'm older
Maryd.
01-07-2010, 01:19 AM
Or just clever
Henry P
01-07-2010, 01:31 AM
that helps
Maryd.
01-07-2010, 01:34 AM
crazy and fun or decent and boring?
Henry P
01-07-2010, 01:36 AM
I like a bit of fun, my dear
Maryd.
01-07-2010, 01:40 AM
Yes me too.
Henry P
01-07-2010, 01:42 AM
But nothing wild or dangerous or harmful
Maryd.
01-07-2010, 01:55 AM
No true... I am not that crazy. I'm glad you aren't either.
Henry P
01-07-2010, 03:29 PM
Scotch or Irish whisky?
Maryd.
01-07-2010, 04:30 PM
Ah, I don't like either.
Movies or Ten pin bowling?
Henry P
02-07-2010, 12:28 AM
Movies. I've never been bowling. Is it fun?
Maryd.
02-07-2010, 01:36 AM
It's fun but the bowling balls are really heavy and of course I never win these games. Good thing I am not competitive.
YoungLady
03-07-2010, 09:27 PM
I choose movies, but bowling is still good...
Chocolate or strawberry ice cream?
Maryd.
04-07-2010, 02:50 AM
Oh, strawberry by a mile.
Cream or icing on a cake?
Henry P
05-07-2010, 08:58 PM
Cream
Cream or chocolate on a cake?
Maryd.
05-07-2010, 11:19 PM
Cream, for both those questions.
Alcohol in cakes?
Henry P
05-07-2010, 11:21 PM
I like alcohol. full stop.
Maryd.
05-07-2010, 11:42 PM
Yep... Me too. I like it better with age.
Henry P
05-07-2010, 11:47 PM
really? I like it but not to excess
Maryd.
05-07-2010, 11:54 PM
Ever been really drunk?
Henry P
06-07-2010, 12:00 AM
Not to passing out or falling over, just to talking emotional crap and feeling glazed
Maryd.
06-07-2010, 12:12 AM
That, I would love to see/hear?
Henry P
06-07-2010, 12:23 AM
I talk even more than usual
Maryd.
06-07-2010, 12:34 AM
You and I would be so funny drunk to loud singing, chatting drunks... Would make a great sitcom.
Henry P
06-07-2010, 12:40 AM
I tend to speak my mind even more when I'm drunk
Maryd.
06-07-2010, 12:57 AM
If I am sad, I get angry at the world... I argue about war and all the bad things that happen. If I am happy then I am a barrel of laughs.
Henry P
06-07-2010, 10:29 AM
When I am sad, I just want to withdraw and sleep
Maryd.
06-07-2010, 02:18 PM
Sounds like a good idea. I wish I was like that.
Henry P
06-07-2010, 02:48 PM
It's a kind of escape, perhaps a death wish
Maryd.
06-07-2010, 02:52 PM
Eww. That's no good.
Henry P
06-07-2010, 02:54 PM
I fall asleep and wake up feeling better, though. I've never wanted to stay in bed as many people who have breakdowns do
Maryd.
06-07-2010, 03:07 PM
I hate staying in bed. I see it as a waist of life. I prefer to be awake, like a child. I don't want to miss anything.
Over tired - Sleep for an hour or just lie down on the couch for 10 minutes?
Henry P
06-07-2010, 07:24 PM
Depends how tired I am and what I have to do
Maryd.
06-07-2010, 11:16 PM
Lose weight: Cut carbs or work out?
Henry P
06-07-2010, 11:58 PM
cut out carbs and a bit more exercise
Maryd.
07-07-2010, 12:04 AM
calorie count or portion sizes?
Henry P
07-07-2010, 12:08 AM
Sort of both
Maryd.
07-07-2010, 12:12 AM
Be rich or be richer?
Henry P
07-07-2010, 12:23 AM
richer. Same?
Maryd.
07-07-2010, 12:25 AM
Never been either before, don't know what I am missings. So neither.
Henry P
07-07-2010, 12:44 AM
We could all be richer
Maryd.
07-07-2010, 12:45 AM
Ok, but it won't make you happy... Cliche or what?
Henry P
07-07-2010, 12:54 AM
perhaps, but it's no joke being poor
Maryd.
07-07-2010, 12:56 AM
And you'd know this how? Have you been there? I have... I know. Do you?
Henry P
07-07-2010, 01:04 AM
We were poor when I was a small boy
Maryd.
07-07-2010, 01:06 AM
Well then we both know.
Henry P
07-07-2010, 01:11 AM
Things improved when my mum got her money from Germany
Maryd.
07-07-2010, 01:13 AM
Good on her. How did she do that?
Henry P
07-07-2010, 01:16 AM
She got compensation for being in concentration camps in the war
Maryd.
07-07-2010, 01:21 AM
Must have been hard for her...
Henry P
07-07-2010, 01:23 AM
It was. Her health was wrecked
Maryd.
07-07-2010, 01:30 AM
Shocking times.
Henry P
07-07-2010, 01:31 AM
Yes, Ishe lost her family, so I never knew anyone on her side
Maryd.
07-07-2010, 01:37 AM
I never knew anyone on my mother's side either.
Henry P
07-07-2010, 01:41 AM
i don't even know what they looked like
Maryd.
07-07-2010, 01:41 AM
Join the club.
Henry P
07-07-2010, 01:47 AM
How did that happen?
Maryd.
07-07-2010, 01:53 AM
Don't know... My father came to Australia, because he had family here, but my poor mother, followed him as most good little housewives did in those days. None of my mother's family came with her and me being the only member of my family born here, I never got to meet them or know them. I tell a little lie. I have a couple of old photos of them. But they are black and white and blury, so hard to see.
Henry P
07-07-2010, 01:55 AM
Did your father know nothing about them?
Maryd.
07-07-2010, 02:15 AM
Oh, he knew about them... He just didn't take well to them.
Henry P
07-07-2010, 09:56 AM
poor you

Never mind. That's why I want to go to Italy to meet them. To find out why he didn't like them.
Henry P
07-07-2010, 10:05 AM
Do you know where they lived?
Maryd.
07-07-2010, 10:17 AM
I think my cousin who lives there, knows. I'll check with him if I go. He'll tell me, I know he will.
Henry P
07-07-2010, 10:36 AM
people should be traceable in Italy
Maryd.
07-07-2010, 10:41 AM
Sure they are. I have maden and married names, so I should be good.
Henry P
07-07-2010, 10:43 AM
Go for it, my dear
Maryd.
07-07-2010, 10:54 AM
Getting there is the problem.
Henry P
07-07-2010, 10:56 AM
Not in this day and age
Maryd.
07-07-2010, 10:57 AM
It is financially.
Henry P
07-07-2010, 02:16 PM
Ah! Can the cousin find out for you?
Maryd.
07-07-2010, 04:13 PM
Yes he can. But I don't want him to find out anything... I want to meet my mothers family and talk to them myself. I will do it. If I play my cards right, I will get to Naples next Auguts... 13 months away. (maybe?)
Henry P
07-07-2010, 04:29 PM
Do you speak enough Italian?
Maryd.
07-07-2010, 04:30 PM
Probably enough to get me out of trouble. Not enough to move in.
Henry P
07-07-2010, 04:34 PM
Will your relatives speak English?
Maryd.
07-07-2010, 04:39 PM
I don't think so.
Henry P
07-07-2010, 08:34 PM
Someone will
Maryd.
07-07-2010, 10:57 PM
Maybe. But I am not worried. I'm sure I can speak enough Italian to get around. Mind you if I go, I won't be allowed (hence 'won't be allowed' like your Mrs) to go alone.
Henry P
07-07-2010, 10:58 PM
talking of my mrs...
Maryd.
07-07-2010, 11:13 PM
Yes...
Henry P
07-07-2010, 11:17 PM
I'll tell you on your visitor page
Maryd.
07-07-2010, 11:21 PM

Naturally dark or easy to read?
Maryd.
07-07-2010, 11:34 PM
Easy to read.
Trust the most: Friend or partner?
Henry P
07-07-2010, 11:35 PM
hard one
Maryd.
07-07-2010, 11:38 PM
Yes and...
Henry P
07-07-2010, 11:48 PM
Should say partner but can't
Maryd.
07-07-2010, 11:52 PM
Yes. I have a tendency to trust friends instead.
Henry P
07-07-2010, 11:55 PM
I trust you
Maryd.
07-07-2010, 11:57 PM
Do you? Do you really?
Henry P
08-07-2010, 12:01 AM
I think so
Maryd.
08-07-2010, 12:03 AM
Why?...
Henry P
08-07-2010, 12:11 AM
I think you're honest and sincere and loyal and not one to toy with people's feelings
Maryd.
08-07-2010, 12:18 AM
Ok, I'll accept that. Trust is a big thing for me. My past has stopped me from trusting people unless I really get to know them. I mean living with them. Suffering with them, loving them.
Henry P
08-07-2010, 12:22 AM
You have great depth of feeling, my dear
Maryd.
08-07-2010, 12:34 AM
Yes and that's my problem.
Henry P
08-07-2010, 12:43 AM
It's a virtue, my dear
Maryd.
08-07-2010, 12:57 AM
For who? It's my burden.
Henry P
08-07-2010, 01:01 AM
you really wouldn't want to be cold and shallow
Maryd.
08-07-2010, 01:09 AM
No, I guess not. But it's a killer, it really is. It just means I get hurt more than others. People, take advantage of me and most of the time I know it's happening.
Henry P
08-07-2010, 01:14 AM
I think it's possible to harden up but remain warm and sensitive
Maryd.
08-07-2010, 01:24 AM
To be honest with you, I have been trying over the past few months. But it's hard. I am struggling with it.
Henry P
08-07-2010, 01:27 AM
you have to protect yourself and be aware of people's motives
Maryd.
08-07-2010, 01:39 AM
I have recently found that out, the hard way.
Henry P
08-07-2010, 01:43 AM
it's a ruthless world
Maryd.
08-07-2010, 01:46 AM
To fool or be fooled?
Henry P
08-07-2010, 02:51 PM
If I'm fooled, at least I'm not dishonest. I'm sinned against, not sinning
Maryd.
08-07-2010, 03:17 PM
Good response.
I'm fooled too.
Henry P
08-07-2010, 03:20 PM
Who fooled you?
Maryd.
08-07-2010, 03:38 PM
Many a person!
Henry P
08-07-2010, 04:00 PM
Men or women?
Maryd.
08-07-2010, 04:29 PM
Both.
Henry P
08-07-2010, 04:59 PM
People are nasty
Maryd.
