Henry P
18-03-2010, 09:19 AM
Sorry, my dear. After 1100 posts, it's not easy to come up with new sets of alternatives.
I feel a duty to make people laugh at parties in my home, but try to give others a chance as well
Forgive people easily or harbour grudges?
(Please say forgive)

Maryd.
18-03-2010, 01:21 PM
Forgive... You anything.

Write poetry or novels?

Henry P
18-03-2010, 02:20 PM
Aw, you're so sweet
Poetry. Novels are such large-scale constructions if you want to write something really good

Maryd.
18-03-2010, 02:27 PM
I love my novel writing.

Left handed or right?

Henry P
18-03-2010, 02:44 PM
I'm right - handed. But I unscrew jars etc with my left. Otherwise it just holds a fork ,changes gears and pulls on the handbrake.
What about you?

Maryd.
18-03-2010, 09:17 PM
Well, I was left handed when I was young... I remember the nuns would rip the pencil and of my hand (not before slapping it though) and forcing me to write with my right hand... This little ritual went on for about 6 or 7 months, until I got sick of being whacked. My father told them that he believed (and a lot of the older Europeans believed this as well) that being left handed was a sign of dominance and a sign of dominance meant the child had evil in her heart. An old wives tale. But he believed it, so I was forced to change. Now I am right handed and have the most shocking hand writing one has ever seen.

You are on a full train: Do you walk to the other side of the carriage to grab a vacant seat or do you just stand, through the journey?

Henry P
18-03-2010, 11:49 PM
My dad was left-handed too, but it was discouraged and he had to learn to use his right. My handwriting is awful too.
I'd tried to bag the seat, because I once stood from London to Doncaster (about 200 miles)

Maryd.
18-03-2010, 11:57 PM
Yes, me too.
Dislike the most: Dentist or doctor?

Henry P
19-03-2010, 12:34 AM
Neither, really, but I prefer not to visit either
Do you take anaesthetic when the dentist gives you a filling or brave it without?

Maryd.
19-03-2010, 12:44 AM
No, I take the anaesthetic... Do you?

Henry P
19-03-2010, 01:14 AM
Yes. I'm no hero. Why suffer?

Maryd.
19-03-2010, 06:59 AM
I did however go through labour without an epidural, though, does that make me a hero.

Henry P
19-03-2010, 09:05 AM
It sure does.
Dramatically raise the tax on cigarettes to reduce smoking or not?

Maryd.
19-03-2010, 11:40 AM
Thanks... I'm a hero... Wahooo. At least to one person, anyway.

I don't smoke and have never really thought about it. But my father has a mild case of emphysema, so maybe I should say raise the tax. Although, I say if people want to smoke and kill off their lungs, that's their business.

Dramaticially raise the tax on alcohol, to stop the young from buying it or not?

Henry P
19-03-2010, 11:53 AM
But they cost money and cause grief by being ill from tobacco and booze. I'd raise the price of booze too. But the government wants it cheap so poor people can afford to drink more and be grateful to them for cheap booze and cigs. They've done some careful maths over this.

Maryd.
19-03-2010, 12:07 PM
Well, I believe it differs here in Oz. They have raised the tax on booze and tobacco. I don't think it makes a difference really. If the kids want the them, they will steal to get them.

Red wine or White?

Henry P
19-03-2010, 12:09 PM
A good white is cheaper, but a good red is better

Maryd.
19-03-2010, 02:29 PM
Let's drink to your health...

Set table for a meal: Tablecloth or no table cloth?

Henry P
19-03-2010, 02:33 PM
Thanks, let's drink to yours but remember the tablecloth. I always have one

Maryd.
19-03-2010, 10:06 PM
I always have a tablecloth, as well.

Out for dinner: A casual restaurant or a classy one.

Henry P
19-03-2010, 10:07 PM
I don't eat out often, so I choose something good or different
What about you?

Maryd.
19-03-2010, 10:19 PM
Truthfully I don't take well to restaurants. Not so much the restaurant, but the food... Who cooked it and how clean were his/her hands. Cleanliness in the kitchen and bathrooms are my utmost priority. Everything else, I can live with.
So if I eat out it will be upmarket. Otherwise I prefer to eat at home.
At home: Eat at the table or on the couch, with plate on your lap?

Henry P
19-03-2010, 10:30 PM
at the table unless there's something really special on TV
Would you rather lose your PC or your mobile?

Maryd.
19-03-2010, 10:41 PM
My mobile... I hate the thing. If l lost my pc. How would I keep my addiction of talking to my special friend... Sir Henry? I'd be terribly sad.:(

Lose your wallet or your passport?

Henry P
19-03-2010, 10:57 PM
Aw, I was hoping you'd say that
Lose my passport, but not on holiday abroad. Or maybe even then. Losing a wallet containing credit card, cash card, etc is a proper hassle
Calculator or mobile to do sums?

Maryd.
19-03-2010, 11:06 PM
Passport - like you say, not while abroad.
I prefer the calculator but when I am out of the house I use the phone.
At the shops: Stroll for hours and window shop or just get what you need and rush off home?

Henry P
19-03-2010, 11:14 PM
Shopping is a mission- get what you want and get out quick
What about you?

Maryd.
19-03-2010, 11:32 PM
Yes... My children hate shopping with me, because they work up a sweat everytime we go.
I got told by my butcher once, that he had never seen a woman shop so fast and that I should have a chat to his wife...

Food: Liver or kidney?

Henry P
19-03-2010, 11:44 PM
Kidney, unless the liver is calf or rabbit
Girly men like Joihnny Depp or masculine men like young Sean connery?

Maryd.
19-03-2010, 11:52 PM
Oh no, love a girly man... They are warm and affectionate.

Your wrestler type woman or a fine lady?

Henry P
20-03-2010, 12:00 AM
A fine lady. I'd be scared to offend the wrestler

Maryd.
20-03-2010, 01:03 AM
Hahahaha
Friday night: Watch a good movie or chat to a good friend?

Henry P
20-03-2010, 01:16 AM
er... let me think. Chat to my sweet aussie friend

Maryd.
20-03-2010, 01:20 AM
(A predictable answer for a predictable question)

Night out on town and rage or a quiet drink at a piano bar?

Henry P
20-03-2010, 01:39 AM
a quiet drink
Same?

Maryd.
20-03-2010, 01:44 AM
Yes, quiet drink. I think I am ready for quiet.

A quiet drink at the piano bar or in the warmth and privacy of one's own home?

Henry P
20-03-2010, 09:06 AM
Both.
Long or short fingernails?

Maryd.
20-03-2010, 09:28 AM
I like long, but right now with the painting, they are short.
Painted fingernails or natural

Henry P
20-03-2010, 09:39 AM
I don't mind either. steph likes painting hers, but keeps them fairly short.

Maryd.
20-03-2010, 10:02 AM
When I was younger and was a beauty consultant for Mary Kay. I had to advertise their nail polish... They had 10 colours, so I painted each nail, each colour. It worked and I always got sales.

Henry P
20-03-2010, 10:05 AM
there's business in it, what with nailbars everywhere. i shall have mine done for my next interview

Maryd.
20-03-2010, 10:30 AM
You are so funny...

Age gracefully or botox?

Henry P
20-03-2010, 10:40 AM
Age gracefully. I'm not bad for my age, asnyway.
What about you?

Maryd.
20-03-2010, 10:44 AM
Well, still wear make up and like to colour my hair... But no, to botox.
Barbecue or grill meat?

Henry P
20-03-2010, 10:53 AM
Barbie tastes better, but the weather is unkind here
Do physical work on Sunday or not?

Maryd.
20-03-2010, 11:02 AM
Do what one has to do to finish a job. (But not always. Do like to rest on Sunday)

For fun: Play card games or board games.

Henry P
20-03-2010, 11:08 AM
I rest on Sundays
Board games- Scrabble, Monopoly, trivial Pursuit
Same?

Maryd.
20-03-2010, 11:35 AM
Yes, board games... Scrabble is my favourite. But I like cherades... Not sure if that is the correct spelling...

Henry P
20-03-2010, 11:41 AM
charades?
You can play that for free

Maryd.
20-03-2010, 12:12 PM
And it is funny to see people acting without speech. It is was my favourite family game to play when I was young and living at my uncles home... My cousins were great at it.

Henry P
20-03-2010, 12:18 PM
I've never really done it

Maryd.
20-03-2010, 12:27 PM
Well you would enjoy it... It's fun and people are funny creatures when they have to act, not speak.

Musical instruments: Trumpet or flute?

Henry P
20-03-2010, 12:29 PM
I 'm not very keen on either, but probably trumpet
Violin or piano?

Maryd.
20-03-2010, 12:39 PM
Piano.

Drums or base guitar?

Henry P
20-03-2010, 12:45 PM
I've always fancied playing bass. I'm good at keeping time, I think

Maryd.
20-03-2010, 01:00 PM
I bet you'd play pretty good too.
Guitar or keyboard?

Henry P
20-03-2010, 01:05 PM
Keyboard , I think. I can play one- handed

Maryd.
20-03-2010, 01:20 PM
Yes... It's like the piano.

Henry P
20-03-2010, 01:29 PM
Indian or African elephants?

Maryd.
20-03-2010, 01:39 PM
(There's a difference?)
I have always thought of elephants a African. So African.

Henry P
20-03-2010, 01:53 PM
Me too- the ones with big ears
tunnels or bridges?

Maryd.
20-03-2010, 02:04 PM
Bridges, hate tunnels...

Exercise regime, given to you b a trainer or one you created yourself?

Henry P
20-03-2010, 02:21 PM
My own- it's cheaper.
Why don't trainers train people's brains?

Maryd.
20-03-2010, 02:26 PM
Yes. This is true. I did my own last year from using cans of beans for weights, to walking around the house daily. I watched what I ate and lost 16 kilos... I am so proud I trained my brain to take the plunge.

Henry P
20-03-2010, 02:49 PM
Hangover or food poisoning?

Maryd.
20-03-2010, 02:51 PM
Hangover... I hate food poisoning.

Totally angry: Drink until you drop or just cry?

Henry P
20-03-2010, 03:00 PM
Neither, really, just take my mind off it and sleep
same?

Maryd.
20-03-2010, 10:31 PM
It has to be really sad, usually a death, otherwise. I just keep my mind occupied, but the times that I have been at my wits end, I have had a drink until I dropped. Now I just cry.

Henry P
20-03-2010, 11:29 PM
When you're depressed, do you get drunk or go bed and sleep it off?

Maryd.
20-03-2010, 11:39 PM
No, dear I used to drink a lot, but over the past 6 months I have eased. I still have a few glasses of wine on a friday night... But that's it... It's too expensive and to addictive. So I don't do it as much anymore now I just sleep.

Henry P
21-03-2010, 12:00 AM
I just want to sleep when I'm sad

Maryd.
21-03-2010, 12:05 AM
I just want to sleep when I'm sad

I guess it's the best cure; sleep.

Henry P
21-03-2010, 12:29 AM
It may be a natural reaction and an escape from reality, too

Maryd.
21-03-2010, 12:33 AM
When I want to escape from reality... I write. Reality comes out in my writing and I re-read my dilema... It's a vicious circle.

Henry P
21-03-2010, 12:54 AM
I can only write when the feeling comes, the poetic trance

Maryd.
21-03-2010, 12:59 AM
Write and publish or write and hide your work away?

Henry P
21-03-2010, 01:19 AM
Neither, because I'm not sure my work would be accepted for publication yet

Maryd.
21-03-2010, 01:21 AM
But your work is good, my dear sir... Well the few that I have read here is anyway.

Henry P
21-03-2010, 01:32 AM
I'm not sure I have enough poems that are in the favoured style

Maryd.
21-03-2010, 01:33 AM
Excuses, excuses... You're just so good, your frightened they might just get accepted.

Henry P
21-03-2010, 09:23 AM
No. i'd be overjoyed. i'd have to tone it down to fit the prevailing subtle style. and how many people buy poetry?

Maryd.
21-03-2010, 09:56 AM
I would...

Henry P
21-03-2010, 10:32 AM
Thanks, my dear

Maryd.
21-03-2010, 10:40 AM
Any time...

Living elsewhere: France or Rome?

Henry P
21-03-2010, 10:57 AM
Rome. Italy seems to have more character than France
same?

Maryd.
21-03-2010, 11:01 AM
I had to chose those too. I love Italy, because it's my family's home... But I have always wanted to live in France... Argh! This is doing my head in... I spend 6 months in each.:)

Henry P
21-03-2010, 11:27 AM
Sounds good to me. Where in France? Paris, the coast, the countryside, the Alps?

Maryd.
21-03-2010, 11:38 AM
Yes, yes, yes and yes. I have no idea. But I would like somewhere quiet. Remember by the time that ever happens I shall be old and grey (and too tired to party) So somewhere quiet. Possibly the contryside.

Travel the contryside, by bike or drive?

Henry P
21-03-2010, 12:00 PM
Drive. I haven't got a bike.
MP3 player or music on your phone?

Maryd.
21-03-2010, 12:59 PM
MP3

Same?

Henry P
21-03-2010, 01:17 PM
I don't have either, but Steph has an MP3 thing.
When posting a poem, is it a first draft or has it been revised many times?
