some English ales benefit from a light chilling
John Ashleigh
24-10-2011, 04:28 PM
I think the only drinks that don't need to be chilled would be spirits.
Henry P
24-10-2011, 04:37 PM

Jeff Stelling, the presenter of Countdown. Looks creepy with his perma-grin, dyed hair and eyebrows
John Ashleigh
24-10-2011, 10:13 PM
He is good on Skysports though.
Henry P
25-10-2011, 11:13 AM
Slick, you mean. He should stay there
John Ashleigh
25-10-2011, 12:23 PM
It is annoying that you can't get skysports news on freeview anymore.

People that cover songs and completely ruin them.
Henry P
25-10-2011, 01:40 PM
some covers work, but many are pointless "interpretations"
John Ashleigh
25-10-2011, 01:54 PM
I hate people covering Bob Dylan songs...I am not so sure why.
Poets Muse
25-10-2011, 01:55 PM
same with me and my songs.
Henry P
25-10-2011, 02:07 PM
you write songs which are covered?
Poets Muse
25-10-2011, 02:14 PM
no, i meant the 'my' in a misdirected possession of it just becase i like it. E.g; i like that band. You can't, it's my band. even though you don't own it you say it's yours.

John Ashleigh
28-10-2011, 11:14 AM
Ha, I agree with you there Henry.
What is your opinion on the Dale Farm incident?
Henry P
28-10-2011, 11:28 AM
I think the "travellers" should have gone travelling more willingly
John Ashleigh
28-10-2011, 11:30 AM
I agree. I watched Panorama yesterday about Dale Farm. 'Twas very interesting.
Henry P
28-10-2011, 11:31 AM
Wat did you learn?
John Ashleigh
28-10-2011, 11:35 AM
I didn't learn much, but I did learn about the culture of the gypsies. I don't understand why it is against their culture to live in a house made of bricks. That just seems pathetic to me.
Henry P
28-10-2011, 11:43 AM
Many gipsies were thieves, so being mobile and lacking an address was handy. Then they discovered benefits and council-funded plumbing
John Ashleigh
28-10-2011, 11:45 AM
They should go back to Ireland.
Henry P
28-10-2011, 11:50 AM
This country is a soft touch for foreigners out for something for nothing. God knows what life must be like in some places if they think it's good here
John Ashleigh
28-10-2011, 11:53 AM
This country needs to grow a pair.
Henry P
28-10-2011, 11:59 AM
I agree. But it won't happen. We can't be racists, you know. God forbid
John Ashleigh
28-10-2011, 12:03 PM
What gets my goat?
Political correctness.
Henry P
28-10-2011, 12:07 PM
It's insincere, just designed to get black and Asian votes. As Ken Livingstone said, "Many minorities make a majority"
John Ashleigh
28-10-2011, 12:09 PM
Because of political correctness, a blackboard can't be called a blackboard anymore. You have to say "chalkboard". Pathetic. Like anyone can be offended by a blackboard.
Henry P
28-10-2011, 12:11 PM
I always preferred whiteboards myself.
John Ashleigh
28-10-2011, 12:14 PM
You wait. They'll change the name of a 'Whiteboard' soon.
Henry P
28-10-2011, 12:15 PM
Who are these people who rename stuff anyway, and abuse our language in the process?
John Ashleigh
28-10-2011, 12:16 PM
The government I bet.
Henry P
28-10-2011, 12:38 PM
not just them- council and school and hospital and police bosses are at it too
John Ashleigh
28-10-2011, 12:47 PM
It's pathetic.
Henry P
28-10-2011, 04:15 PM

29-10-2011, 12:40 AM
What gets my goat is time. I always have way too much time when I don't need it. There should be a way to save up that time and keep it for when I want it. I'd get to go on holiday loads if I just saved up and used the time I spend waiting at bus-stops, at check-outs, in the lift, stuck in traffic etc.
There should be a better way to manage the precious little time we have on this Earth.
They say your whole life flashes before your eyes just before you die; that's going to be a boring few seconds for many of us!
Henry P
29-10-2011, 11:05 PM
And time seems to pass more quickly as you grow older, unless you're not enjoying yourself

The only time I like goats is in their more refined form - mutton :jester:
Else they are about the most stubborn animal around. Over here people let theirs loose to forage for grass and weeds by roadsides. Sometimes they go to the middle of the road and sleep there, oblivious to the angry honks of a million cars around them. Get down and try to force them to move at your peril.
So, yes, goats get my goat :D
Henry P
12-12-2011, 01:58 PM
mutton is sheep meat, not goat. I just thought I'd correct you
Grasshopper
