Here's in you're Eye Mr Human Race

In the streets of ancient Cities
In the many third world countries
Little children play and die
Poverty is so bad
It makes a true heart cry

this little girl gathers from the rubbish pile
a little boy begs in the street
Sad faces look up at tourists reaching out
But hearts can only find room for some
and there are many, many more

O why do we let this happen
when men and women are making millions
and white collar criminals are skimming off the top
stock markets shift billions of dollars
and just maybe it might be possible to right the wrongs

Exploitation and utilization of local products
Rich Multinationals buying in third world for a pittance
and selling to the west for huge profits
Individuals making indecent amounts of money
Compassion is what we have for things that glitter
not our fellow man for theres no profit in it

We declare war on foriegn countries to gain control
Then we call our conflict a fight for freedom
a freedom for who?
Is it for the big multinational companies to control lost assets
Suppose we ask the injured and dying soldiers
Or maybe the mothers and Fathers who have lost their homes from bombs

so children continue to die and suffer
Girls and boys become prostitutes to western deviates
and human slavery is rife everywhere
Kidnappings and violent regimes are growing
Because of the desperate that need to survive

sometimes I wonder if I am really part of this disgusting race
a small majority exploit , use and denigrate
And we just stand by letting it happen
yes we donate to charities but even these are exploited
so what can we do ...how do we solve this sadness

Wow! If that isn't deep, I don't know what is. I can feel the passion in those words. Everything you mentioned basically describes the negative aspects of our world today. We're living in tough times and you've elaborated on the very things that make me not want to be a part of here anymore. Your powerful words impress me. Thank you for sharing -- even if this is, indeed, an older post.
